Its that time again.
:w00t: ARE YOU READY FOR SOME.... dumb question, of course you are.
Season kicks off Thursday. So for all your NFL rants, raves, predictions this thread is the place to be.
Instead of splitting threads into weeks lets have one to rule them all, until playoffs roll around. Save some space.

My Picks-Week 1

*Opener* Miami at Pittsburgh: Miami
With Big Ben out with the appendsitus(OUCH! Poor kid's looking to have a short career) the phins will get the W. One of my early season predictions are the Phins making the post, think Daunte has found a place to rebound.

Atlanta at Carolina: Panthers
Virtually the same D, with the addition of Keyshawn to catch the short ones next to Smith their going to be tough no matter who they play. Could go deep in the post.

Baltimore at Tampa Bay: Bucs
Don't like Mcnair here.

Buffalo at New England: Pats

Cincinnati at Kansas City: Cinci
If Palmer can stay healthy their going to be fine. KC has made a few interesting moves in the off-season. This could be a really good game.

Denver at St. Louis: Denver
Rams are not even a mere shell of what they use to be, a shame really.

New Orleans at Cleveland: Saints
See if Bree's and Bush can breath life into New Orleans, I predict a 7-9 season for them.

NY Jets at Tennessee: Jets
Both these teams have big questions at QB but Titans are a bigger mess.

Philadelphia at Houston: Philly
Without T.O. their practically the same team they were during the NFC Championships.

Seattle at Detroit: Seattle
Could make another run.

Chicago at Green Bay: Da Bears
WTF is Favre doing.

Dallas at Jacksonville: Big D big baabbby!

San Francisco at Arizona: Arizona
I can see Leinart starting this year towards the later stretch.

Indianapolis at NY Giants: Giants
You gotta love a Manning vs Manning game in the first week, I'm pulling for Eli. He's got one thing Peyton doesn't have, Tiki. Know Indy is a pass heavy team but I still don't see nothing good of EJ leaving.

Minnesota at Washington: Minnesota
Skins are plagued with injury, see them tanking at the bottom of the East.

San Diego at Oakland: Oakland
You know what  this might be the only game the Raiders might win. Phillp does not look ready.

Dallas Cowboys-My team assessment *for those who care*
Love what I saw in the pre, too bad that all the HIM and 2 talk over shadowed what was going on. We lost some vets on D(both sides really) but we've added alot of youth and more speed to our 3-4, with Roy still at the helm I'm confident. Drew and Terry's chemistry is tighter than ever. With Marion pushing Julius for the #1 spot thats only going to be good for us, the only thing keeping Barber from being an all down back is toughness. Even with his size and speed we still have ourselves a great 3rd down back & a playmaker, expect him to possibly get that 1st spot by the end of season. Vandercrack is a mess, I honestly don't know where this move is going. No sir I don't like it, might be wrong.
One more thing, wether T.O. shows up for us or not doesn't change the fact that Dallas are still playoff contenders. Don't get me wrong I love T.O. and I will defend him in most cases but unlike Philly and the Niners Bill & D'Boys are not going to let one man destroy our house because of lack of leadership and ineptitude in the front office. Predict we'll make the number 1 or 2 spot by the end. 10-6 without em, 12-4 with him.

The only team I want to win really is the San Fran 49ers! They are my team! I like the Colts and the Dolphins but not as much as the 49ers. Around here where I live it's Steelers country. I must be the only non Steelers fan in my town.

Yeah I can't wait for the season to kick off. It wouldn't shock me to see Arizona make the wild card. I think it would be better to say that maybe The Saints can pull something out the bang...I can tell you this alot of people will infact have their spirits lefted when the Saints return home as well as their future franchise player...Reggie Bush. The NFC east division looks very improved and could well have one team to be in NFC championship or the Superbowl...I'm picking Dallas. The NFC north is clearly dominated by the Bears defense...I mean I'm a Packers fan all the way, love Favre but is it truly time to retire? The AFC conference will infact win this years Superbowl. Both north and east each have a team that has improved most and thats the Ravens and the Dolphins. Offense got alot better with Mcnair as QB and as well as Dante going to Miami who is in desperate need of help.Well for the South there's one thing to come to mind...Colts winning the division. The west looks very interesting. KC with Larry Johnson, will the Chargers do well without the assisstance of Drew Brees? There's not much to say about the Raiders but will they ever be good again? and lastly we come to Denver, who I think will go to the Superbowl. With Javon Walker on the team who knows what dangerous things might come out of that offense. Be on the look out for your teams this weekend.
My super bowl picks
Dallas vs Denver...winner???? don't know.

Nice to see alot of Dallas love.

DD on IR, wow, I bet the Texans wish they drafted Bush now. With no line Bush would do as much good in Houston as EJ is going to do in Arizona, not much. Not to say the Saints have anything special up front.
Reggie is good for New Orleans in more ways than one.

Davis always seemed to manage though. Was on pace for a third consecutive 1000 yard season. And he was always a threat with the pass like Bush. But maybe that line is why he was getting injured every year.

Evolution
September 6th, 2006, 12:21 AM
With no line Bush would do as much good in Houston as EJ is going to do in Arizona, not much.

The Arizona line is much improved. Edge will get his 1000+ yds/12 TDs which is all we really need from him. The pass blocking has looked great and with the best WR duo in the league, I think we'll have the #1 offense, or atleast top 3. How good the defense is remains to be seen, we were missing a couple key guys in the pre-season.

I think the Cards will crush the Niners 35-10.

Anyway, on to the rest of week 1:

Miami @ Pittsburgh: Even with Big Ben out Miami has no chance against the Steelers. The Steelers still have a GREAT defense and always remember there coaches are some of the best in the NFL. My pick the Steelers.
Atlanta @ Carolina: Carolina takes this one pretty easily.
Baltimore @ TB: Tampa Bay should man handle Baltimore
Buffalo @ NE: New England wins this one
Cincinnati @ KC: I see Kansas City taking this one, I'm not really to impressed with the Bangels.
Denver @ St. Louis: The Rams SUCK, This game is a sure blow out. Denver should win by 2-3 TD's.
New Orleans @ Cleveland: This is a toss up in my opinion, The Browns are always the underdogs but in this game New Orleans has something to prove. I'm undecided but I will choose New Orleans.
NY Jets @ Tennessee: NY Jets should win, they are my team but I'm afraid to say that we are a wreck. We are more screwed now that H. Edwards is gone.
Philadelphia @ Houston: Ha the Texans are the laughing stock of the NFL. Philly by 3 TD's.
Seattle @ Detroit: Seattle wins this one. They may have a shot at the Super bowl again.
Chicago @ GB: The Bears take this one. Farve is in for a rude awakining when GB gets spanked right of kickoff.
Dallas @ Jacksonville: Dallas wins this one.
Indy @ NYG: Giants will take this one, There Defense is VERY good. I'm predicting Eli to have a Peyton type year this year. Tiki is a MAJOR WEAPON, and then Plaxico and Shockey are both amazing in their own respects.
Minnesota @ Washington: Redskins should beat the piss out of a horrible Minnesota team. On a second note both teams are pretty bad.
San Diego @ Oakland: Chargers should whip oakland. Raiders could pull an upset if the QB can connect with Randy Moss.

Dolphins were in it until Culpepper made his mistake. The first INT wasn't necessarily his fault, but the 2nd was just a horrible pass and a horrible read.

Maybe Moss had a bigger impact than we all thought. I remember last year w/o Moss he started out 6 TD 12 INT before he was injured.

Not really worried about the injury ridden Skins, vengeance will be ours in the 2nd week and yet again in the 9th. These 4 games are really important 10/8, 12/25(Philly) 10/28, 12/3(Gmen) for our dominance.

The Steelers and Niners have also won 5 super bowls. And won more than anyone in a row? 2 in a row? Other teams have done that. If you're referring to 3 in 4 years, the Patriots did that too.

I think most people just dislike the bandwagon nature of Cowboys fans, leading them to dislike the team as well. It's the same with the Patriots. When they won 3 in 4, everyone and their cousin were long-time season ticket holders and had been fans for 30 years, never missing a game, etc, etc. Half of these Cowboys fans were probably Niners fans in the 80s. Now that Dallas has T.O., I've been seeing tons more Cowboys "fans" compared to the past few years.

Eli shouldn't feel bad, came within 5. Statistically Eli perform a tiny bit better that his bro, it was just that one costly mistake that sealed the deal. He may not ever reach Peyton's numbers but I stil believe he's in a much better situation to reach a Championship than big bro, which is kinda sad.
With this all I need to see is for the Skins to lose so D'boys won't be the only one's at the bottom of the rung :P

9-7 last week.
From what I saw no one should be too worried, 1st week after all.
Unless your a Raider or Packer fan, then you should be panicing.

2nd Week Pics
Buffalo at Miami: Miami

Carolina at Minnesota: Carolina

Cleveland at Cincinnati: Cinci

Detroit at Chicago: Da Bears

Houston at Indianapolis: Indy

New Orleans at Green Bay: Saints
Someone please have the courage and bench Favre, hate to say that but he's dying a slow death.

NY Giants at Philadelphia: Philly
Mcnabb looks like he's back in his groove.

Oakland at Baltimore: Ravens
Damn this is going to be ugly.

Tampa Bay at Atlanta: ATL

Arizona at Seattle: Seattle

St. Louis at San Francisco: SanFran-Upset pick
You should hear some of these niner fans out here "oh man we're going to make the post" -_-; How you can get that assumption off the 1st week and losing is incredible, and I thought Raider fan was optimistic.

Kansas City at Denver: Denver

New England at NY Jets: Pats

Tennessee at San Diego: Chargers

Washington at Dallas: Dallas
Should be easy.

Pittsburgh at Jacksonville: Steelers

Bills Pats was hard. I knew it was over when McGahee couldn't get it fourth and one, but it was still emotional. Losing Spikes in the opener was harsh and putting Vincent on IR hurts.

2nd Week Pics
Buffalo at Miami: Bills
I think the Bills will have surprise or two for the Phins. People forget that one of the best recieving games of last year was Bills@Miami. Chambers was amazing and got the game winner, but Evans had three TD's and well over a hundred yards. The Bills youth wasn't bad, and with a more aggressive defense plan, I could see some interesting things.

Carolina at Minnesota: Carolina

Cleveland at Cincinnati: Cinci

Detroit at Chicago: Da Bears

Houston at Indianapolis: Indy

New Orleans at Green Bay: Saints
Favre's going nowhere, but as Brett Favre he will be respected for the hall of fame QB he is and be allowed to play a few more games this season.

NY Giants at Philadelphia: Giants
I'm not really sure on this one, I love both teams. McNabb is probably my favorite QB and Barber is hands down my favorite RB. I think the Giants will win this one in a close battle, but I could easily see Philly taking it.

Oakland at Baltimore: Ravens

Tampa Bay at Atlanta: Falcons

Arizona at Seattle: Seahawks

St. Louis at San Francisco: Rams

Kansas City at Denver: Denver
Jake will get back into it eventually

New England at NY Jets: Pats

Tennessee at San Diego: Chargers

Washington at Dallas: Skins
Bledsoe found ways to lose in Buffalo, he'll do it again in Dallas

Pittsburgh at Jacksonville: Steelers

As a Bills fan who's felt the same way, I'd like to point out how amazing it is what happens when a bad GM (Millen is worse than Donahue) is fired and a new GM is brought in, especially if the GM happens to be a local hero. It also helps if he ignores the sports shows and lets his own group do the scouting (Whitner was taken too high, which is why Culpepper threw for 300 yards. Wait, that's not right)

Seriously, you guys aren't that screwed. If Millen is fired this season and you rebuild, you have a fairly weak division and if you get better while the Vikes age/get arrested, You'll be looking playoffs in no time. Of course, that's a few ifs in there.

indeed, Da Bears are very good, but so far they've preyed on weak divisional foes. They'll probably make a bye in the playoffs, but I want to see how they do against the other elite teams, like the Patriots and Steelers or the Eagles, the Falcons, and the Panthers (w/ smith).

I will shoot the writer of the next article that says that makes the focus of the Bills game how bad Culpepper did without mentioning the Bills defense, its four rookies, and how much the writer mocked the Bills for picking Whitner.

Nice little bye week for D' Boys, couldn't have come at a better time. Think T.O. will make it to Philly, who doesn't want to see that. No need pushing for the Titans.

Week 3 Picks
Carolina at Tampa Bay: Carolina

Not buying the Vikings just yet. This team will test their luck.

Week 3 Picks
Carolina at Tampa Bay: Panthers

Chicago at Minnesota: da Bears
The Vikings aren't bad, but Da Bears have probably the best D in the league

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh: Cinci
I'm going with offensive firepower in the battle of the egos (Porter v Chad)

Green Bay at Detroit: Packers
Favre still has it in him to beat the Lions.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis: Colts

NY Jets at Buffalo: Bills

Tennessee at Miami: Phish
Miami isn't good, but the Titans outright suck.

Washington at Houston: Skins

Baltimore at Cleveland: Ravens

NY Giants at Seattle: Giants
This will be interesting. Seattle has Branch, but the Giants still own the ground with Tiki.

Philadelphia at San Francisco: Eagles

St. Louis at Arizona: Cards

Denver at New England: Broncos
Ya know what I want to see? Watson lined up wide, Bailey in single coverage, flat out footrace. That play in the playoffs just seemed unnatural, and it needs to be settled.

Atlanta at New Orleans: Saints
By all rights I should pick Atlanta, but I think the pure emotion of being back in the Superdome will do something amazing for the Saints.

^Damn Jae thats cold man, granted it took a natural disaster for most to start to appreciate the team. The case that now people are clinging to them after this doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing either, the town itself has to start bustling again some time or another. The fact that season tickets are sold out for the first time in the teams history shows that their trying to move along. This game could suck but who cares.

A sports team can do wonders for a town in more ways than just revenue(yeah yeah I know sapppy), the dome just last year was a shelter for the down & out(probably already poor) victims and now everyone's there to see a game. Doesn't that make you all warm and fuzzy.

Favre isn't the problem with the packers right now. It's that terrible secondary who keep letting opposing recievers blow past them and the rookie offensive line who can't create openings for Ahman Green to run through so we have no running game. Since there's no running game, all we can do is pass which puts all the weight of the team on the shoulders of Favre and the recievers and you can't win games with just that. I'm just relieved that they finally cut that moron Ahman Carol.....Woodson is overrated but he's at least better then that.

It goes without saying that the team is better off with him than passing the rock to Rogers. BUT, some feel they need to go in a new direction and a majority feel exactly how you do.

My money is still on the East, if McNabb and Tiki both make the playoffs, it will be the East representing the NFC in Miami. Seattle at St. Louis: Rams good team so far, after this week expect back to back losses.

Tennessee at Washington: Redskins, a rejuvenated Brunell against a shaky Vince Young, ya he did show us his rushing skills, but passing.... i predict 3 or more INTs against Young.

Kansas City at Pittsburgh: Cheifs, the steelers.... their Secondary has become pretty weak.

Miami at NY Jets: Jets

San Diego at San Francisco: San Diego, the 49ers....err i think they would need a whole new team, Alex Smith...... hes goin to be traded sooner or later.

Oakland at Denver: Denver, OaK has no offense, the defense is laughable. in 4 games they have scored only 47 points and has given up 113, its pathetic. Denver by 28.

Chicago at Arizona: Bear Down Chicago BEARS!!!!! i do feel sorry for Matt, being a trojans fan and all, He showed people last week he's a capable starter
but this game will be a challenge for him, he'll probably get sacked 5-7 times, and picked off about 4 times in this game. The Cards O-line cannot stop the fast and strong D-line and the bears secondary will have a field day if they get to matt early. As bad as this Monday nighter looked, I liked the few bright spots with Romo despite the ugly picks(heh, thats what rookies do). The guy is definitley not afraid to throw the ball which is a plus and more than I could say for Drew's wonderful world of bloopers.
If the east wasn't so close you could just as well scrap it. BUT, I think Dallas should try to build around him. Our D needs to stop imploding in clutch situation, and well...T.O. had good game besides that one error that was blown out of proportion.
All in all, Cowboys can still rebound ;) Carolina next week, and from what I saw yesterday from them we can take em. Gotta stay optimistic ^_^

I only saw one football game that Sunday, Pittsburgh vs. Atlanta. Great game. It was neck-and-neck the whole game with many turnovers and players getting injured, including Ben Rothelisburger. The Falcons needed that win, not only to better their standing in the league but to be deemed a potential division champion.

Don't think Alex is a good example right now but I get the point.
The dude's been sitting on the bench for 4 years, survived 3 starters and 2 backups there's a reason their keeping him around. Not expecting him to work magic but anything is better than Drew right now so why not give em a shot. Should of been sooner, he does show some promise. The only thing I hate about this and similar situation's is when Jerry gets too involved, not a good sign.

Way to go for Tony staying consistant and keeping that ball on our side, letting Julius and Marion wear down that Panther D. Dallas D stepped up in the clutch, finally. It was nice to see Bill get emotional. Dallas really needed this, a loss could've tanked the season. Beating the Cards and Skins in the next 2 weeks will put us in a real good posistion against Indy.

Special team losses are ugly and none were uglier than the Cowboy's yesterday >_< Thought Bill was going to drop dead with that blocked FG. What a bogus face mask call. I was impressed with Romo taking the whole blame for that loss when he played a good game and it was clearly T.O's dropped TD and special teams fault. that was only a one point game because Dungy didn't want to embaress us. They seriously dominated. When Dungy turns that offense loose, it scores.
That said, a team like Denver that relies on a formula rather than individual players, or the Patriots, who rely on Belicheck and Brady, have a very god chance. That's not mentioning the combo of best RB and best TE in SD. Still, Indy's good, Manning's inhuman, and i think that they know they might not have another chance like this, so they might be more motivated.

Dallas should at least make the playoffs. I don't see them getting a bye, but with the NFC this jumbled, who knows what will happen.

Dont hop on the Dallas bandwagon yet. They still have a bad secondary and the defenses havent really adjusted to Romo yet. People really wont know how good he is until the defense start paying attention to what he does. Right now he is still in the who the hell is he phase for teams. He still throws far to many bad passes and has been exceptionally lucky all the DBs cant catch.

Jeremy Shockey needs to shutup he really does.

People shouldnt count out Indy yet either, remember when Chicago lost and everyone left them for dead. People hop on and off the bandwagon way to quick now.

True, but ya got to admit Tony's pretty good as a fresh starter. His mobility frees up Witten who would normally have to block for Drew. His quick trigger can be erratic at times but his overall completions are not that bad. Needless to say are playoff picture is alot more clear with him than Drew, and he's only going to become more polished. Yes are secondary(especially on the right) is extremely weak, Peyton took advantage of that big time but in turn we exploited his weakness to the 3-4.
Roy has to work double time until we get that spot covered but he's starting to mature more and more, less head hunting.
Dallas will make it to post, how far will soon be told.

With Mcnair as Cap'n Comeback this year Ravens are another team in the AFC you can't sleep on either, their creep'n with that 8-2.

Anyway 9-7 last week.
