1. When Naruto episode 1 came out, what chapter was the manga currently at?

2. When Naruto episode 135 came out, what chapter was the manga currently at? (and what chapter did ep 135 correspond to?)

3. What are the current Naruto episode and manga numbers and.... what's the difference between where Naruto ep 135 was manga-chapterwise and where the current manga is?

If you're looking for a pattern, I don't think you'll find one. They'll end the filler when they feel like it, that's all there is to it.

He does have a point though, since the first part was able to catch up with the manga before it ran ito filler hell. The producers of Naruto may want to have as much or more manga material in the box. Which would put us at just over the half way mark in fillers. Ouch

I hope they don't end up using a filler ending due to decreased interest in the show. That would be a shameful death for a show of this kind.

It's not a matter of "when they feel like it." They'll end it when there's enough manga material to work with for over 2 years without catching up to where it is in SJ. That's why I'm curious about these questions. It beats relying on the endless anonymous board rumors about the filler. If I can just find out these questions I'll be happy to know how long I need to wait.

Rumors? It was stated in Weekly Shounen Jump that there would be a 90 minute special in the month of October and that Naruto would be moving to Thursdays. Now... just what exactly that special may be... that may be revealed this week in Weekly Shounen Jump.:)

1. No clue so I can't answer that one.

2. I believe when 135 came out, the manga was somewhere between chapters 250 and 260. I'm not sure which one it exactly was, but I know it was somewhere in those 10 chapters. Episode 135 corresponds to chapters 237 and 238, the final chapters of Part 1. The Kakashi Gaiden starts on 239.

3. The manga is just now on 321; this week's is 322. The anime........I don't know. I lost track of it, but I think it's around 200 I believe.
I think there's a difference of like 70 or 80 chapters and filler episodes since the manga-anime divergence.

I'm just vaguely guessing from memory here so I know some, if not most, of that is wrong seeing as how I can't remember the exact chapter-anime divergence. Someone with a better memory on that maybe can elaborate and correct that. But I do know it's been said that, on average, an episode's content is composed of 2 manga chapter's content.

You know, if they absolutely need this much of a gap between the manga and anime, they could at least step the fillers up a notch. The animation quality can't be helped; I'm willing to bet that they're saving up their budget money for some of the epic fights to come. But the side stories could at least be, you know, good. How about a filler about the serious training between Naruto and Jiraiya?

Well, they do kinda have a handicap. They can't change the storyline too much cause it might interfere with continuity when they do get back to the canon storyline. But it does seem like they've already done that.

It's not like Hellsing or Fullmetal Alchemist where they can go off and create their own storyline to conclude it. They have to create episodes that will keep the fanbase, yet not mess with the continuity, which they have already done it seems. I doubt they want it to turn into another Inuyasha. But , yes, most are correct. They could come up with some more entertaining and coherent side stories. I don't care about the animation budget. The less they spend on fillers, the more they'll likely be able to spend on episode quality when it gets back to canon storyline, and god knows they're going to need it.

The kicker is that the show is still doing good ratings. The Japanese have not lost interest because of the fillers. Probably due to the fillers being aimed at young children who could care less about canon and the storyline.

People are worried about Naruto going the way of Rurouni Kenshin, but that's not going to be the case.

Although we might soon start reaching a breaking point. If you are looking for a sign that maybe the Japanese public is getting sick of crappy Part I Naruto, then look at how the third movie tanked.

I think your friend might be giving his opinion rather than stating fact.

Both Naruto and Bleach dropped recently. Inukami is now number 1. But Naruto's ratings haven't been hurt at all due to the filler. They've even gone up in some cases. Go figure. It can't last forever, but it's been amazing how how popular Naruto is to survive this.

I wouldn't count on Naruto's popularity waning anytime soon. Besides, most of the regular long running shounen series are mostly all in fillers now as it is, except for maybe One Piece. I don't see Naruto becoming like Rurouni Kenshin or Inuyasha anytime within the foreseeable future.

Well it sure as hell better end soon, and I'm not speaking as a fan.

If they honestly need a two-hundred-episode gap to make one episode, there's something wrong.

And the rumors about the filler ending at 200 is bogus. There's no way.

No way. Let em go as long as they want. Makes it a ton easier to purchase than mixing the occasional non-canon episode in. I just get to skip 100 episodes or 8 of the Naruto boxes. And I'm not that much of a completionist that I'll even care.

In the meantime, I'll just keep reading the manga and watching other stuff. When it starts airing again, hey, one more thing to look forward to every week. But right now, hell, I'm used to it. Haven't watch a new episode in like a year.
