and yes, the voice in unexpected, but I'm thinking that the creators didnt expect the reaction they got from fans, with the whole androgynous thing, so maybe they made it especially manly so no one watching would question whther he was a dude or not?

The voices/images are all intentionally distorted, because the characters are still supposed to be unknown/mysterious at this point.

Anyways, yes, it was purposely done to give them an air of mysteriousness, but it does come off quite odd and funny with a voice like *that* saying "yeah" after every sentence, and especially as feminine looking as Deidara looks.

But whenever Deidara is animated and given a voice, he probably will have a feminine voice, but then again alot of feminine guys in anime have deep voices. I guess it's to ballance out with the look. It'll probably be like Orochimaru's : feminine, yet suitable for a male. You can guarantee his voice won't be a deep voice like Itachi's.

I wouldn't be surprised if they even toned down his feminine look like they done to Itachi, and to smaller extents, Sakon/Yukon, Kimimaro and even Orochimaru.

That definitely did NOT sound right. I wasn't expecting a voice THAT deep; I was expecting something with a more feminine touch - you know, something that actually matches Deidara's appearance. Though I suppose pairing feminine physical features with such a deep voice sort of suits him in a way - it emphasizes how odd he is. -_-;
