yeah, seriously, what's up with all these new spammers PMing us to join other forums? This is seriously getting stupid.

Has anybody else been getting advertisements for other anime/gaming forums in their Private Messages? Anybody else know how to, you know, not get them?

Yeah, expect that from time to time. Can't really do much to prevent them but report them to a moderator as spam.

Yeah, I just posted in the AN Q&A. That's probably where this thread should be. But yeah, it gets annoying thinking I have a PM from someone who gives a damn, and it's just an advert to visit some idiot's forum.

No PMs, but I've received an email from a Gaia Online member about a forum called Digital Anime. I checked it out, and it didn't really seem any more different from Gaia itself, unfortunately.
Gaia Online: 4.5 million brainwashed souls that could potentially put Scientologists to shame.

Yeah, I'm sure "Ana_May" will be totally distraught and learn their lesson about spamming when they're banned. Because obviously, spammers totally keep coming back to boards they've spammed for legitimate reasons.

While I'm certain that banning this one spammer will do no good, I'm more curious as to where this came from? I haven't gotten so many sPaMs in the three years I've been here.

I've gotten two in the past week or two. It's not a problem; I simply don't want it to become a problem.

Any chance of getting a 'Report Bad Post' button on the PM forms?

Nah, not just forward it to one of us and we will exterminate with extreme prejudice.

Yea I got the same crap as well. Really bugs me but i just try and ignore it. I have a fantastic idea. Is there a way AN can block users from being able to send PM's till they have reached lets say 30 posts? That should stop the spam down quite a bit. Just a thought ^^

I usually delete them as I get them. I get like 1-2 per month.

That's what I was thinking, making personal messaging available after X amount of days, or X amount of posts. Though, I don't get PM spam too much, I've gotten a few in the past.

Just find a mod and forward the PM, we'll ban them.
