About 3-4 monthes ago, I got a Go board and stones from a outing at local park event and It was really hard to play with the instuction they provided. So for the time being I had to learn to play from the manga Hikaru no Go till I was able to buy a how to play GO book.

Since then I've been playing, and I have to say this game is very interesting, Very time counsuming but interesting. Are their any other players out there?

Well, can't call myself a player but I have played a game or two (half the time didn't have a clue what I am doing). On a side note, I notice how you say you read Hikaru no go, have you seen the anime? At the end of each episode they have a good 3-4 minutes explaining how to play go and I found this really interested and this is where i picked up how to play the basics.

I guess I'd say I'm a go player. I've never played real life, but I've spent hours in online go rooms with people around the world. It's very fun. Though I'd still call myself a novice.

I have disk one of the domestic HNG release. All the tips I already knew, so opefully they'll give more experienced tips as the series goes on.

I tried learning to play, after reading some of the Hikaru No Go Manga. I sucked at it, it's universaly a game of complexity, however I prefer simple games like Sorry. ;)

I have played Go though more than a few times at GO tournaments with my grandpa he's a champion player but won't give me any tips. Something about how I have to learn by experience. My playing is mediocre but better than most poeple of played against.

Tournaments aren't official by the way, more like a park setting (kinda like old people playing chess, heh heh).

I play occasionally on Yahoo Japan but I always lose since I don't have any effective strategy. I prefer Othello or Shogi, much more fun.

Go has been my main focus of study for the last two and a half years. I do not play it for the sole reason of entertainment, but more so for the improvement of myself as an individual. I am a strong believer that Go is not simply a game; it is a reflection of one's inner-self, and if you allow it you will undoubtly learn invaluable life lessons lasting a life time.

It's funny you say that, Sai (In Hikaru no GO) says the same thing to Hikaru and even though I'm not good by any means (How to add/subtract the score is really hard to me) I believe how you play is a reflection of yourself....I know, CORNY

Go is a lot of fun, but I can never get anyone to play with me. It's kind of annoying. I do have one distant, socially reclusive cousine who lives in Japan (teaching math at a university or something) who is something like amatuer go-dan. He wrote a few english language go books, and I have a couple of them. I've never met him myself, though. I have another cousine who lives there, working for amazon.jp, and in the six years he's been there, he's seen my othere cousine all of once. . . and on rather cold terms. Good thing not all go players are like that :P
