If you've seen Fullmetal Alchemist Episode 13 you should know that Ed battles Roy. Anyways this thread really isn't to discuss that but you can if you want to of course. I was wondering basically which one everyone thinks is actually best. I got a feeling most will say Edward since he is the main character, but then again lots may think Roy is better. My vote goes to Roy with Edward in 2nd. ^_^ Also I haven't started a thread in this section in awhile so I thought I might today. :)

It depends what time of the character you compare. Ed wasn't all that great when he fought Roy but he improved a lot fighting those ruthless Homunculi with such crazy moves.

I guess we're comparing the best each character was shown, and in that case my vote goes for Al. He beats Homunculi with much stronger moves that just fire Alchemy.

Neither, Alphonse....well manga Alphonse he's badass. Roy a close second. And then Riza.

roy has ed beat in speed and accuracy, but then agian ed has roy beat in power and the ability of not having to use a trasmutation circle so i think they are pretty much equal.

It doesn't matter where they fight. *Shrugs* I was just trying to find out which of the two everyone thought was better. :)

^^You're right Roy has Ed beat with speed cause of course Ed is short..LOL..seriously tho he has him beat with speed. As for Ed and his power sure he got Roy beat. Ed just has to clap hands and boom! Roy snaps his fingers and boom! Still Ed's knowledge of alchemy seems to be greater which can give him an advantage over Roy.

But Ed has no real combat experience while Roy has killed many during combat.

^True Ed has no REAL combat expierence BUT all thru the series he gains alot of new battling styles I think anyways. Especially when he start fighting the homunculi.

ed wants to kill the humunculi, doesn't he? i havn't watched it in a while so i'm kinda fuzzy about that subject.

Well Ed really doesn't want to kill anyone. Umm...
Ed killed both Greed and Sloth. What happened with Greed I don't think he meant to actually kill him. The battle they were in kinda of resulted in Greed's death I think. Ed had to kill Sloth. Either that or Sloth would have killed him. Since Sloth was made when Ed and Al tried to bring their mother back..Sloth couldn't handle having her memories and so on..So she/it then wanted to Kill Ed and Al. Wrath had taking in Trisha's remains just gave Ed a easy way to kill her too.

Ed....because his skills became so much more advanced...:P and he can continue to advance...:lol: Roy is at his limit of using fire..Ed can do anything ^_^

Give me some facts to back up this blasphemous statement. Just because Roy has a specialty doesn’t mean he can't advance. :mad:

Roy had my vote for the best between him and Ed until he went kinda emo looking in the movie ... then he gets his butt in gear near the end of the movie so it works out nicely! Roy beats all case closed. :P

In a one on one fight, Edward Elric beats Roy Mustang. I think its undeniable that he is a better alchemist. Traveling to the Gate gives you knowledge about alchemy thats way beyond the everyday man.

But... I think Mustang makes a better soldier. Ed never falls in line. In fact, Ed won't even think twice about totally abandoning the mission to go off and accomplish his own goals. That doesn't work in a battle that depends on teamwork. Plus, Mustang is G with the ladies. Winry's been throwing herself at Ed forever and he still refuses to beat it out the frame. Mustang was pullin' 'em left and right without even trying.
