Asuka/Rei Yuri question

Anyone notice the amount of Evangelion yuri images and statues that include Rei and Asuka in romantic poses and does anyone besides me think that they make a cute couple?

I'd say I have a new couple to use an an example of "Most OOC Pairing". I usually use Vegeta and Goku, but Asuka-Rei might actually be worse. An alpha female covering her insecurities with bravado, and an autistic clone. How you got from there to "cute couple", I can't even begin to guess.

Well i everyone has there own opions I think they actually have a lot in common but then again they do have a lot not in common it just seems to be a lot of pics and statues that show them either as semi-romantic, or good friends I mean come on they have a statue out where they're holding each other. There has to be some friendship there, two people who dont get along wouldn't hold each other but then again it is just a statue, heh ^_^

^I think he means the OC statue depictions and such.
That's just to make them sell more Eva merchandise, those poses. Another example of this continous marketing is see in the AU Rei from epsode 26, in the "Ayanami Rasing Project" and Iron Maiden games.

Yeah I meant that there had to be some friendship because the statue is them holding each other. I know that Asuka hates Rei. It just seems odd that they have those statues where they seem to be really good friends, or lovers.

Well, time to add one more item to the list of things I absolutely loathe: OOC Charater Statues. I had thought it was limited to OOC fanfics and doujinshi, but evidently I have to loathe in three dimensions now. Gods, where am I going to find the time to get the rest of my loathing done, I wonder. I wish they'd think about these things before they talk to the marketing folks, that's all I can say...

I admit that I think they would make a cute couple, aesthetically at least. But I don't see anything there. ...Well, nobody else seems to, either.

I'm more inclined to think along the lines of Asuka/Hikari, and that's also stretching their horizons quite a bit, but not nearly as much...

They'd be pretty cute together if they both had MAJOR attitude adjustments. (Rei needs a personality transplant) Just sticking them together is just irresponsible. however a good writer, with a lot of patience can make the pairing believable.

i guess it goes to what both girls need. Asuka is a terribly lonely person who puts up a false front to cover her lonliness. Rei is a natural nurturer who truly wants to care for others. Of course she cares nothing for her own well-being, but if someone like Asuka could give her a good kick in the pants (so to speak) she might become a whole person.

The appeal of this OOC pairing is that they would make a great couple, if only several of their flaws which define their characters would change. So while Ri/Asuka would probably never happen, it's nice to imagine it could.

No...They would never... make a couple.. well if they were drunk... realy drunk... no.. mean we all hear oposites atract each other but thier personalities are waaaaaaayy distant...

the only way they would work is if they were the last two people on earth..besides that i dont think it could work

Heh, if they're nicely made, personally I don't care, they're products the same...
If any yuri was done of the two, be it in any sort of fanon, it'd either be one sided or just completely disregarding their inate personalities.^^;

I think they would be a hot couple, but I doubt they could work. I mean that would be one ****ed up relationship. But still hot none the less. *eyes shift*
