I've been in a design funk as of late, and with school, AN banners are the last thing on my mind. I am going to make some new ones though. A Shin-Han needs to go up.

Frankly, I'm not a fan on how the banners are chosen. It's seems as if the banners chosen, were either submitted Monday, Tuesday or even Wednesday or days (sometimes hours) just before the new one is chosen.

I was looking at the this thread from the first page to the last and I noticed some really great banners that haven't been chosen yet. I understand that this is a special banner for a challenge and all, but it seems like it's been gonig on for a certain while now.

If I had some sort of indication that banners were going to be chosen from the first few pages dozen pages, I'd see no problem, but as I'm seeing things now, banners from the first dozen or so pages aren't going to be picked which makes them obsolete IMO.

Sorry for the small rant, but I've honestly felt that the banners from weeks past aren't getting the same treatment as one summited days before the new one is chosen.

Ditto. I've actually felt the same way for a long time now. I kinda feel as if all my old banners went to waste, and revolved around the rule where SUPPOSEDLY, had to have the original blue BG and unchanged logo. I suppose that rule has been long been over, but there were a lot of good early ones that have never gone up. Wouldn't mind seeing some of the early stuffs.

For the record, how did you get that "magazine" look? I've always wondered that, it looks so clear around the face. How to describe it...do you use a light filter, or play with the levels some? Of do you make a new layer, and have it at soft light or something?

On the issue of recent banners being picked... Honestly, we generally don't even use the thread to pick banners, we save all of the images locally and browse through them. We don't know who made them, or when they were made when we're looking at them. If more recent banners are being chosen, I'd attribute that to the fact that you all continue to step up your game each and every week. We choose recent banners because you guys are constantly making better banners as your skills improve.

Now, on to the business at hand. Unfortunately, if you want any previously posted banner to be chosen going forward, you'll have to resubmit it. We're changing the banner proportions, so I'll be starting a new thread and locking this one shortly.
