1)Dont buy the 360 until the reliabilty problems are worked out
or
2)just dont buy a 360

I've heard about this too. I was actually watching AOTS and one of the host said that a copy of the game fried their 360. Didn't know it was a common thing though.

i bought a 360 specifically for dead rising, and have been playing it since it came out. its the only 360 game i own right now.
no problems. :\

what would cause the game to fry the system?
Is it like Metriod crashing a GC and the console needing to be restarted or are you describing a case where Dead rising is inserted, loaded, and the 360 never turns on again and joins many of its kin?

I've had quite a few disc read errors with Dead Rising, possibly due to heat related problems. I have a fan blowing on my 360, but I still get disc read errors after a couple hours of playing Dead Rising.
I still have my warranty til november so if anything happens I'm still safe.

but how can someone be sure its the software and not the hardware. It would seem that dead rising and chromehounds are getting flak when its much more likely the heat problems.

No hardware issues for my 360 and its a launch console. The newer ones are quiter thats about it.

that makes you pretty lucky...but not nearly as lucky as one of my best friends who has a launch PS2 that has never had a single problem, not even the infamous "disc read error"

I haven't heard anything about Dead Rising destroying any 360s...I'd say it's just a rumor.

We've had to replace ours once already, lost EVERYTHING, and we had so many games with so much data, so this really worries me.

first time i've heard of Dead Rising killing anything but i wouldn't be suprised. there was always those reports of xbox live downloads like Fight Night 3 causing failures early in the year or so.

The latest dashboard update is what killed ours, and I know a few guys who had the same prob.

It doesnt make me lucky, the ones with broken 360s are the unlucky ones the ones with the working ones are the normal ones. I have 6 friends with 360s all from launch (They are the camp outside types) and not one of them has a defective 360. The % of defective 360s was like 1% out of the total launch number. What added to this was idiots turning it upside down and sideways duriong operation (reading a Disc) and thus killing the disc. This then made its way to major fourms as being a defect even though most any disc reading spining a dvd at x16 would scratch after being switched around.
