I agree, it was very nice.
Shuichi was very cute, but sometimes he did get a little too hyper.

True True Yuki is very insensetive its not my type of man indeed ..but at sametime..i think its all down to making strong effert how to make your man behave..soon man evolve and change will the good ones do anyway
let me put it simple the more typical male or trypical strong female are like childern need clothing food and love sometimes have there ego boosted soon they see femine male or femine females way slowly began to evolve and change to please there other haft ..this evolves alot of agruoments, speaking freely with what brothers you what does not
all about having healthy good realationship

Ok, i am back from work.
I really don't get why this anime is so popular. Shuichi is a total wuss. How can someone 'fall in love' with soemoen that does nothign but insult you? I am surprised Yuki hasn't beaten him (i haven't seen all of it yet...but it wouldn't surprise me if he did). Yuki...well he is a jerk.....a total Jerk.
This is also a priem example of the Yaoi-fangirl double standard.... Shuichi is the shining example of the female characters yaoi girls hate. Shy, submissive, etc. Now...how can he be so popular, when say..Aoi from Ai Yori Aoshi... She is sweet, and knows how to cook, clean, etc. But because of this, she is hated....
Just doesn't make sense to me.

^That's a good point, and some yaoi fangirls probabaly just like seeing a boy act like that.^^; (I personally thought Shuichi was too much like a girl in the anime, not like a gay guy)
I prefered the manga of Gravi, one of my favorites, but the Reji/Panda mecha nearly put me off of enjoying this series for the the characters, later on. But I got over it and enjoyed finishing the manga and novel.

I like submissive guys, but I like female characters to be strong. It's weird but true.
I haven't seen AYA, but I don't usually see girls bashing characters like Aoi. It's the b*tchy, whiney ones that get to them.
If Aoi fits into the character type I think she is (anime seems to be so full of these types of girls), then I don't mind her. However, I don't like how these girls let guys walk all over them and can't think of their own feelings, instead always thinking of the guy. I think they need backbone and need to stop the excessive selflessness.

^I don't like Yuki all that much, so I don't think he deserves Shu's selflessness.
I would have rather seen Shuichi end up with Ryuichi. Lots of people like him with Hiro, but I found Hiro to be a very boring character.

What? I don't see how what I said is a double standard.
I just don't like to see my gender get walked all over in anime. But if it's a cute guy? Then that's fine. If you see it as a double standard, then fine. :P It's my own double-standard and I like it.
I don't like either gender to be walked all over in real life. This is just my liking for fantasy and entertainment.

Mah, I truly hate this series. I don't know if it was the Yaoi Fangirls who ruined this anime for me by SCREEECHING when it was on the whole time at SakuraCon, or the fact I don't like Shounen-Ai....
Magami No ER
August 29th, 2006, 04:35 PM
^Probabaly the latter, as this series is pretty "rabid" fangirl riddled, it's a very popular BL "starter", and I still was able to enjoy it for its own merits that I precieved. (once again, the manga. The anime...meh.)

I liked the music a lot, and I loved K, Tohma, Tatsuha, and Fujisaki, but Shuichi was way too feminine for my taste. If there's one thing I prefer about the manga it's how (in the earlier volumes anyways), Shuichi was much less girly, at least in appearance. I guess I've lost any and all tolerance for psuedo het boys love stories as of late, so it's hard for me to like the story anymore. Shuichi's overly feminine appearance, romantic desperation, and hyperactivity just are a major put off, so I'll just disagree and say it was "meh"

One thing I'm really disapointed about the Anime is that they didn't inclued the whole Rage and signing over to America arc. That was great part of the original manga.

His appearence does become a bit more femme and ukeish (ironically after he cut his long hair), right around the time the manga-ka beautified her character designs a bit.
I like the look though.
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/9729/grimgys4.gif
He was even blond for a time.
But the slight muscle tone is still there and overall charcater just did not bother at all like it did in the anime. But then, I watched the dub as well. =/
On a related note, does anyone know what online anthology the gravitation manga is (currently) being re-serialized in?
Just out of curiousity...

That's a broad generalization, it could be he just doesn't like the character.
Anyway, I watched a little bit of the show, it's not bad.

You have no basis on which to accuse others of spreading hate. This post is venomous in the extreme. All that Ryushe said was that he didn't like Suichi. You start hurling unfounded accusations, and hatred straight away. I can see that you did it because your favourite character is being put down, and because you feel as though you've been unfairly treated on this forum, but that won't stop until you get an attitude adjustment. I promise you that.

Oh, I didn't even know she was talking to me. -_-; Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear and didn't give any reasons why I didn't like Suichi, So here they are.
Reason 1) I'm not gay, So I can't act like I know what Suichi went threw, but I just couldn't get into his character. Look at this as you will, He was an up and coming rock star and would totally mess up his career and also his friends career's for this guy who would totally walk all over him anyday of the week. That's just stupid to me, sorry but it is.
Reason 2) I don't know about anyone else, but I think he turned gay a little to quickly for my taste. If this were a 26 episode anime his character development would have been handled better IMO. One episode was somthing like "Hey dude, you totally dissed my song" and the next few episodes was "I think I love him". No that doesn't work for me, That's why I said I prefer the manga more.
Reason 3) God he's annoying. He overreacts for everything, He's even worse than Excel. At least she was funny.
There, those are my reasons. Hopes this helps :naughty:

Well, First... I think Foxie is a guy...
On topic wise.
I too find Shuichi to be annoying, In the Anime he tends to go hyper-manic far too much and if I were Yuki... I would have smacked him with a book numerous times.
^^; Oddly enough though, Yuki's coldness I find quite.. attractive.
As for the Manga, Haven't really got around to it. Odds are I never will, It just doesn't perk my interests.
To each their own.

Gravitation was my first shounen-ai anime, so I had just about no standards. I love it for some reason (??), although Shuichi is a bit annoying, and Yuki is a complete Jerk, I still love the series. It's probably because it was my first. I actually like the TatsuhaxRyuichi pairing much more... Tatsuha seems alot less men, although Ryuichi is alot more hyper... Anyway, I just started the Gravitation manga, and it's loads better then the anime, and I'm only on volume one. The art is way nicer, and as earlier stated, Shuichi looks like an actual guy!

I am going to be on an even level here. Shuichi is what every fangirl hates about most girls in anime...whininess, annoying, and yatta yatta yatta, the list could easily go on.
Sure, the series was ok, but it could have been alot better. Shuichi was too too whiny, both of their dub voices are horrible (I know, watch the subs), but the only thing i can say i loved about it is the music. Gravitation can't be done wrong with its music.
Yuki, like i said, only problem I saw with him is the voiceover, other than that, he was cool i suppose. The fact he killed someone was neat and all too, and his background, so I was well ok with him.
Also, was Touma on drugs or something? He always talked like he was in the clouds O.o...

Yes, crappy character traits are more tolerable when they are evinced by the opposite sex.
For instance, if you were a *woman*, Matt, I would have drop kicked you into next week by now. But because you are a man (and possibly have all those lovely pheromones) I don't.
Just kidding! I find all whiny, over the top emotional, weak-willed characters to be irritating, male or female. I wonder how many yaoi-fan girls, like me, simply hate the character traits weither or not they show up in men or women?

Maybe I'm unusual. I'm a girl, and I have far less patience for certain male characters than I do female characters.
I have a hard time in real-life with people who are dark, abusive, anti-social, and bags of angst. I know people in real-life who've been with people like this and it's not sexy or appealing at all. It's the same thing with anime characters. That's mainly why I don't like Gravitation.

I thought the Gravitation anime was so lame during the first episode as I was watching it. I was cracking on it to my friend the whole time. Until they kissed. And I realised it was a yaoi anime from heaven and got hooked SO HARD. Much love for the manga, too!

well what did you expect? shounen ai and shoujo ai have to be "unrealistic"....if they wanted to talk about something real...I can say that well, concerning real "romance" in this parameters....I really doubt a girl and a guy would behave always like that, if he or she wasnt too "drunk"
Yeah right...one kiss...they fell in love...for all i know there would be a week of not talking and trying to figure things...quite possibly behave agressively towards that person....
not to mention that it would definatly have to be secret.....society is very distastefull in that matter...

anyways i love gravitation! it's always going to be in my top 5 list of anime! but one thing is.... it's too short! i got annoyed at the end >_< even watching the ova series didnt cut it for me >_< i wanted to watch more! i wanted the story to be longer! i heard that the manga of gravitation is way better than anime of it!

Shuichi made me want to deck him a few times. So did Yuki but not so much. I was sorta "meh" about the two of them when I saw the anime but afterwards when I read the manga I understood a lot more. Though I dislike Yuki's type of attitude, I can understand why he's the way he is and because of that I like him.
The anime is decent. I do like it for the most part, but I felt like it could've been deeper. There's Loveless which is the same amount of episodes, but I felt that this series had much more depth with the characters compared to Gravitation. I read the Gravi manga and that does have more depth but near the end of the series I felt like I was going through the anime again. There are so many gags and sometimes there's too many, especially when there's a serious scene.

The Gravitation anime was 10x better than the manga, in my opinion. The manga gave me headaches, haha.
The animation was very beautiful and the music was obviously one of the best parts. Shuichi was so adorable. Touma too! Oh, and the entire thing with Yuki as a kid was rather arousing. xD And for some reason I giggled like a fangirl when Yuki spoke in English (in the Sub).
The ending wasn't too satisfying. Like the manga, it was boring; it had no "bang" to it, as if there was supposed to be more.
