So I just caught a little bit of "Hard Ball" with O'Reilly (sp?) a few minutes ago, and they were saying they had to release him due to a lack of evidence. Comments?

"Hard Ball" is hosted by Chris Matthews; the other side of O'Reilley.
From what I heard on the radio on the way home from work this afternoon, he was released because the DNA did not match. There was also talk going on that Karr was under arrest and facing charges with a possible conviction in Thailand, which isn't known for its enlightened penal system. Supposedly, Karr admitted to the killing knowing full well that the US would do whatever it took to get him back to the country to be tried. If that's the case, then he played the US Justice System for a free ride.
I can't back a lot of that up as I've not researched any of it for myself to see what the truth is.

Released? No. Stop watching Fox news.
Suspicions in Colorado were dropped when tests showed his DNA didn't match. He's being held in Boulder until he can be transferred to California. There, he faces child pornography charges.
Why did he confess to killing Ramsey? Well, it got him out of Thailand. I wonder what he might've been doing there that would make him want to take Con Air out of Asia...

Maybe he wasn't killing them HERE, but there had quite a record.

This story sounds extremely plausible. There had to be some advantage to him, in confessing to a crime he did not commit. Even though this version of events cannot be substantiated, it sounds convincing.

First off, yeah, sorry, I didn't mean Hard Ball, actually, I only saw O Reilly (sp?) written on the bottom when I switched to the channel. Second, I was a little sleepy, but I do think I heard right. They had to release him because they couldn't match the DNA. And I did think it was a little fishy that he would turn himself in after all this time.

They dropped the investigation in Colorado, but he has not been released. According to the latest article on the AP wire:
...Karr remained in custody until he can be sent to Sonoma County, Calif., to face misdemeanor child pornography charges dating to 2001. An extradition hearing was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
If convicted in Sonoma County, Karr could face a maximum of one year in prison and $2,500 on each count, said Don Steier, a California defense attorney who has been involved in high-profile sex crimes cases.

^But that isn't related to the JonBenet Ramsey case though is it?

^ He's not being sent to California for anything related to the Ramsey case, no. But he is still in police custody awaiting extradition to California. He has not been released. He's sitting in a Boulder jail right now.

Since there is no evidence to charge him in teh Ramsey case they can not charge him. HE will mostly likely released when he is finished wit hteh child pornography charges and will live life as a Sex offender

^ If he's done anything in Thailand, then their government could always request that he be extradited to Thailand to face charges there. I think that'd be entirely fair. And if he's incarcerated, that gives them a year to get their case in order, doesn't it?
Oh, what sweet justice it would be, to send a pedophile back to face charges in a foreign land...

Oh thats right forgot about the THialand charges, but I thought Thailand didnt have child pornography charges.
and depending on what he did with the child pornopraghy and in THialand he might just be listed as a low-level sex offender

They may not have child pronography charges, I'm not 100% sure, but pending on what it is, he may face jail time if convicted. And by what it is, it may be child prostitution up to and including rape or molestation. While a prostitution charge may result in a trip up the river but could as likely result in being listed, a rape or molestation conviction will probably send him to a Thai Prison. Either way, if extradited back to Thailand and convicted, the US might actually win out as Karr will not be legally permitted back into the US.
