Good, bad and ugly characters in Gundam:
I don't mean good and bad as in good and evil. I mean how good or bad the characters for the Gundam universe. What kind of good, bad and ugly effects have they contributed to the shows?
Good:
Char Aznable- considered one of the most complex and three-dimensional characters. He is seen as sometimes a villain but he is more like an anti-hero.
Bright Noa- a brilliant and very ruthless, no-nonsense strategist and also a good soldier who believes in victory.
Camille Vidan- has to struggle with the conflicts with his own beliefs about what is right and what is wrong. He also has conflict with himself over many things such as the ethics of war, adults' selfish intentions, Reccoa's treason and his own feelings for Four. His characterization are well-defined. We see how he grew up from an irrational crybaby to an aggressive soldier.
Judau Ashta- He was a petty, selfish junk scavenger who reluctantly joins the war. But the longer he fights, the more he sees the reason why he has to fight and why the war must end. he is rather well-developed in the span of many episodes and he is remarkable as a newtype.
Emma Sheen- she, like Reccoa, switched sides, but did so for good reasons, unlike Reccoa.
Paptimus Scirocco- a very manipulative bastard who meticulously gets the job done and has quite a silver tongue.
Yazan Gable- a cool bad-*** who gets delighted in his killing.
Bad:
Reccoa Londe- an former AEUG soldier turned traitor so she'd get the chance to sleep with Scirocco. Plus she's a masocist at times and is willing to be party to murder.
Fa Yuiry- is pretty aloof and stubborn, a bit bratty and strives to prove herself worthy in battle. Her character is almost two-dimensional, since I don't see much of what was in her thoughts or of her personality.
Jerid Messa- his only real accomplishment was to survive. His accomplishment didn't last long though.
Roux Louka- an impudent, overconfident and conceited perfectionist who thinks she makes a great pilot. I wish she'd die in ZZ Gundam.
Haman Karn- she doesn't strike me as a very good antagonist of the show. In fact, she's not much antagonistic towards the heroes of the show at times. She occassionally gets her hands dirty and prefers to let her lackeys do the job for her. She sometimes lets her emotion affect her judgment.
Glemy Toto- has not done anything much besides wooing Roux which seems basically is of no strategic or tactical use to his goals. He sucks as a mastermind because his manipulations of Judau's sister and Elpeo Puru (Ple) backfired. He went against Haman and didn't do much of a good job. Judau did it better than him.
Ugly:
Hathaway Noa- is a foolish brat who kills a girl for a stupid unreasonable reason.
Zechs Marquise/Millardo Peacecraft- a carbon copy of Char Aznable.
Mashymre Cello-a very flamboyant and vain commander who places too much confidence in his men's loyalty and always long for Haman's love. He is also an easy quitter. When he couldn't get anything right, he quit and left Glemy in charge.
