I wasn't paying attention during the preview before a movie I saw and if I hadn't heard Tony Jaa's name, I wouldn't have known it was Tom-Yum-Goong. I'll definitely be seeing this movie.

Isn't this just the american version of Ong-Bok II?

It's not Ong-Bak 2. It's just a name it's been given since it's Tony Jaa's second big film. The Protecter is just some lame name they gave it to show in theaters instead of Tom-Yum-Goong.

I also suspect "The Protector" is another way the studio is trying to market this film, with an american/english name. Ong-Bak was in theatres and did not do so well, only being shown mostly in arthouses and a few select chain theaters. The Protector , espeically if it is dubbed is aimed at the american viewer. Ong-Bak was subtitled, and that seems to turn off the average american viewer. Banielue 13 (District B-13) is a french film with english subtitles, which kicks a lot of butt but sadly did not do that well because it wasn't dubbed in english. Ong Bak 2 is the name of the film in Thailand. It is being called The Protector for domestic release. (IMDB.com)

I can't wait to see it, but I prefer to see live action films in their original language.

Lol, it's called: "Tom Yum Goong" and is already out on torrents.... Although I might go to the threater and just watch that with English dub.

Wished they would of kept the films format & original title, but I can kinda see why they changed the name. I mean subtitles didn't hurt Ong Bak, I fail to see how it would hurt this film. People today, OMFG! I have to read >_<
Well its not going to stop me from seeing it on the BIG screen.

RZA doing a track on it.

Now it is a must see for me.The RZA has always shown interest in asian cinema, I remember the promo he did for Ong Bak.
Nowadays you can't have a martial arts flick without some hip hop element. Some would disagree but I think its a nice fusion, it definitley attracts more people to see it and rightfully so cause this guy deserves to be seen.
With Jet hanging up his coat and Jackie fading from the screen Tony Jaa is next in line.
