Hey, I just got back from Japan today. I was a Homestay student in Tokyo. It was loads of fun! if you have the means, I highly recommend that you go.

Great to hear that you had fun~^^
I went on a Tokyo trip with my family last year and it was awesome~
But staying as a homestay student must have been a much more intimate experience. :)

Surely you don't mean crime? Certainly Japan isn't without it's problems, but it's extremely unlikely anything will happen to you, even moreso as a foreign visitor. You shouldn't even worry about getting lost; you might have to stumbled through language problems, but you shouldn't have trouble finding someone willing to help you.

Unless of course you mean something coming up to prevent you from getting here...in that case....I have no idea what to say. ;p

I'm going to Japan in late October for 10 days with two of my friends. We're going to pack light and travel across a lot of the main island. We're flying into Narita, then heading over to Kyoto for a couple days, then taking taking a train up the coast to a small city near Nagano. Then we'll be in Hakone just in time for the November 3rd Cultural Festival. After a couple days in Hakone we're ending the trip in Tokyo.

I've travelled to London, Paris, and Rome before, but Tokyo and Japan in general will be quite an adventure. I've been studying Japanese for about a year, so I hopefully know enough to at least get around.
