Ever have one of those injuries that you just can get rid of? Even the doctors like, sucks to be you. It could be the smallest thing (like my swollen toe that won't become un-swollen since ... the past few months) or a mysteriously occuring back ache.
Everyone knows the RICE and protein treatment I'm sure
 maybe not:
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevate
Sometimes they just don't cut it.
Anyone haunted by nagging, minisquel, mysterious injuries?

Yeah, some minor, and some not so.
Minor: I seem to have a bruise on my toe that never goes away...is it really a bruise?
I seem to have permanently chapped lips. I HATE IT!!!
Not so minor:
I twisted my ankle really bad about 3-4 years ago. I couldn't walk on it for about a month, and then, after that, I still seem to have problems with it. It kinda sucks, because I need my ankles...
My back. I always get back pains here and there. What's up with that?

that bruise may be from a blood vessel.

 unless you have soreness around the knee cap and can't walk up stairs, you don't have runners knee.

Injured my back trying to lift heavy stuff, its permanent now. Its alright most of the time but overexersion will agravate it. No treatment, just exercises. :(

Yeah, I've done all that stuff. It doesn't go away. I'm not even sure it's a bruise anymore, maybe I'm overly brown in that area.

Its probably not that serious to require those, both doctors I went to just said swim, walk and do certain exercises for the back. It helps, but its a time bomb now, I never know when it might go off. One day I helped some kids in the park to get on the swings and had to crawl home coz something just snapped in there and I could hardly walk. >_<

Yeah, I have a sickness that 1 in 4000 people get. It REALLY sucks to have it, but it's not a major case, it's pretty mild. But the fact that doctors say there's nothing I can do but see how bad it gets depresses me.
And plus, I have a thing where the bones in my hand can break easily. I've broken like 7 fingers, and all by tiny little things, like hitting my hand against a chair, or grabbing on to a shirt while playing kickball.

Yeah. And to add insult to injury wasted a small fortune on acupuncture that didn't help a bit.

Back when I did martial arts I use to love throwing around high kicks eventually I ended up getting really bad groin pulls,of course it didn't help taking groin shots either on top of playing football and tennis all at the same time in my early teens. WHich is the reason I screwed up my knees at such a young age. I was a kid so I bounced back from it with good ol rest, never had it again until recently. Since I started boxing now in my 20's I've been doing alot of sprints and some how the pressure to my adductors couldn't handle it and that nagging groin pull reared its ugly head. Luckily I was able to build it up with the adductor machine, ice, tons of protein and a decent amino acid.
Now it doesn't bug me and I can go all out. But that lingering pain between my legs will always haunt me in the crevices of my mind. My knees always ache here and there but it doesn't hinder me like it use to, from my expierence you can never get your knee's to a full hundred percent after injury but it really helps to build the muscle around it.

That just reminded me about my own knee problem. I seem to have a permanent problem because of playing b ball on the asphault too much.

what protein/amino acid do you take?Skinless chicken, egg whites(on a good weight training day I can go through a dozen and a half ), 2-5 scoops of whey(depends on training and non-train days). Take Glutamine, fish & flax oil on the side. Nothing too complex, know I should take other things but I'm not a real big fan of supplements. Its just a complex I have.
Even with proper shoes & support asphault and pavement are not really healthy on the ankles. Even though I still do my roadwork on it nothing beats good ol turf.

^true, asphalt killed my shins over summer. Had no where else to run. The nearest Horse trail wasn't exactly near.
I take Whey too, but that's about it. I just started taking an interest in Supplements. I think I really need to stick to it though, otherwise I get really sick and injured.

Tripped while running and landed on my left knee. It only had function problems when trying to heal because a couple layers of skin were removed.
Took about two months to heal. I still have a big pink scar on my knee.

Well, I have dislocated my knees quite a bit in my almost 19 years of living. It's happened four times, and I fear it will happen again (unless I have grown out of it. The last time it happened was when I was 14). Due to this, sometimes my knees feel swollen and I suppose they get water in them. Also, it keeps me from doing physical activity because I have this phobia of it happening again.
I remember this one time I stubbed my toe. It hurt SO bad. It was like, the worst toe-stubbing instance I've ever had in my life. I swore that I must have broken it. Months afterwards, it was sore, and would hurt or throb when I put it in certain positions. It's fine now.

My enemy kicked me off the top of a slide when we were four. We were playing dinosaurs and he wanted to shoot fireballs at me when Mamenchisaurus is a herbivore and doesn't even have cutting incisors, let alone fire-breath and I said it made more sense for the Tyrannosaurus to have it and he said no, they were scavengers and I said there isn't even any proof for that and he's stupid and then he kicked me in the stomach and I fell off and cracked my skull on the ground. The resulting behavior is quite evident to this day. You all have my condolences. I haven't seen him since but he was wrong, and Mamenchisaurus is a ***** dinosaur anyways.
And what's even worse is that they're not even from the same era and I was the first to choose which dinosaur to be so obviously we were going to play in the Cretaceous period since I chose Tyrannosaurus.

Ingrown toenail in each big toe.
When starved/too hungry, my knees start to buckle (i.e. bend the wrong direction)
Last week I kept "sleeping wrong" and waking up with neck pains, and having them basically all day. A second pillow thankfully remedied that.

hahahaha, this post wins!
The only thing I have is from about a year ago. It was the last day of classes and I was going back to NY for the summer. I decided to jump on top of this big stone sign the college has just for kicks. I jump, slip, fall, land on hand and fingers get bent a bad way. Every now and then it'll hurt if I do something to injure that hand (specifically, not just general pain injury). Hurt like a marfar 3 seconds after it happened.
Other than that, nothing. Haven't broken a bone yet, so here's hoping I have an adimantium skeleton.

Well, it wasn't an injury per se..but...
I still have problems due to the badly diseased gall bladder I had to have removed a few years back. I suffer all the time from that....does that count?
Can't eat too many foods without getting sick, feel disgusting most days because of it, and....well......I have scars from the surgery still. They are ugly. I am ugly.

Due to the twelve surgeries I had as a child due to hydrocephalis and cerebral palsy, everytime it rains I have searing, shooting pain in my left arm and leg before a thunderstorm, as well as back and posture problems due to a gait from one leg being shorter than the other. I normally wore workboots to alleviate the posture/leg issue but have since had to revert back to casual shoes due to the boots being worn and ripped. Does brain damage count as a nagging injury too, I've got a lot of that.

Right now, I'm lucky, because my biggest pain in the *** isn't around...yet. I have a back problem that re-occurs mysteriously. I think it's just a time bomb, regardless of when I run or not. I think I may be over-coming it with protein, but I thought I overcame it last year with a series or RICE and golf ball compression. I remember one day before a race, I laid in my bed for an hour with an ice bag on my back. It helped, until I couldn't move in the last 300 meters of the race v.v that was about the last time I PRed that season.
The day before that race was hell too, I was at another meet(I ran back to back meets v.v) I ran the mile, placed well, and dropped out of the two mile. Could barely walk to the bus. that was a nightmare. To top it off, I have a swollen toe (infact it is swollen right now). The biggest problem with this injury is, the swelling is on the bottom of my foot. It isn't very big, but when I walk- oh god does it hurt. When I run on it, thats just funny. It swells up and I have to over-pronate when I walk the next day.
- here I thought I was gonna start a thread and see how other people treated their nagging injuries, but all I found was people perpetually injured.

I had this thing that looks like a spider bite/pimple on my cheek. Got swolen, Doctors say "I don't know what it is, but come back in a week if it isn't gone, we'll try and remove it.".
Went back a week later, still there, but they wouldn't remove it. ><
I have had it for a few months, it is still there...
PS: It's a few inches big too. So I can't really ignore it.

If it's a spider bite, can you stick to walls or shoot webs from your wrists(thank you Marvel for messing that one up)? You might be Spiderman.
Anyway, onto my inury at the moment. I have a Boxer's Fracture.

The only injury that seemed interminable was when I broke my pinky. Geez, it suched with that brace on. It got in the way of everything! I could barely hold stuff, got in the way of playing guitar, it hurt when I clenched my hands to hold a pen or something of the sorts. It was awful. :(

Remember in the Spidey movies? He shot the webs from his wrists automatically without the wristbands. Now its legit in the comics. So he has infinite webbing.

Yeah, that was shown in an episode of Sakura Wars. Kanna's secrets to detect hurricanes early was the smell the salt in the air. Sometimes I can smell it when it's gonna rain.

I have had for a few years some nagging pain on my right knee specifically. It's not really painful, but for the past few weeks it was pretty uncomfortable where the pain appeared out of nowhere and appeared again for a few minutes and then dissapeared. I think I was having it a lot because I've done so much hardcore walking and climbing thousands of stairs after being forced to not do any exercise because of a tendon injury I had (that is almost cured.. I don't have the time to finish a final phyisiotherapy session right now).
I wasn't born with good knees, they are slanted inwards a bit like Tochiro from Harlock Saga (though not nearly as badly as him) which doesn't help. I think a lot of the cause of the pain is simple that I've fallen hundreds of times on the exact same place of my right knee due to figure ice skating. The most damaging falls have always been doing dinky little steps. Just because a Choctaw step isn't as flashy as an Axel jump, it's a spectacular way to fall and hurt yourself. I "popped" the knee twice a few years back learning the Biellman spin and never sought treatment for it except muscle training in shallow pools (which really did the trick in just 1 week). Curiously, despite all the problems my knee gives me, I never have the pain when I actually do exercise. You'd think landing Death Drop spins would screw it up real bad but it doesn't!
Hasn't been really bothering me for the past few days, but eventually I might need to do surgery on it and is an idea that disgusts me. I don't know why, but knee surgery is the only surgery I just don't want to see. I saw the nastiest stuff watching a surgery today. Cancer is nasty, but knee surgery, nah-ah. I don't like watching screwdrivers yanking a kneecap back and forth. *shudders*
I also have recurring back pain since I was a teen. Ironically I treat it with the most back demanding figure of figure ice skating: Biellman and Layback spins. My back loves them. I go every 5 months or do to a professional masoose who really fixes my back for less than 30 dollars.
I'd like to schedule an appointment with a traumatology doctor I've been visting lately after my tendon injury but I just don't have the time and my parents don't have the time. I have lots of freebee times of Fridays whereas my parents aren't home till 8 pm. Bad timing sadly.
Thing is that last time I visited him, I told him of my "unusual" right wrist and left shoulder than I can slightly dislocate at free will with a slight "popping" noise. I was told to do special exercises and they have worked. My shoulder doesn't seem to get out of place anymore and my wrist only needs to pop when I am writing too much, too fast. Sadly I forgot to tell him about my knee, I'll try to remember the next time I visit.
He told me I might have a genetic disorder. It was so funny.. yet creepy. I was chit chatting with my mom and best friend and he comes by without notice and bends my right hand in such a way that my right thumb "touches" my wrist at like a 270° angle. I don't know if anyone else can do this (I guess not) but it didn't hurt me at all, it just looked damn creepy when he did it out of nowhere. He says that with all the joint pronblems I have that I might have Ehler-Daimlos syndrome. I told him I had never heard of that disease in my life. Then a few days ago I went reading one of my new books and it told me at least a bit about the disease. It's not impossible that I have it as a new mutation (nobody else in my family has hyperextensive joints) though I don't have the money to get a Genetic test done. If I do have it, I probably have the type that affects Type 1 collagen. Curiously, the book I was reading says that "Osteogenesis Imperfecta" (glass bone disease) is caused from a defect in the same type of collagen. However I have the sturdiest bones around. Curious. Having the disorder can sorta explain how in the hell could I learn the Biellman spins being an adult. It's supposed to be a figure only kids can learn due to the stretching demands of actually doing it. Heh.
