So, is this a new venture for you or did you have these series previous to DVD?

By the time I began to like anime, VHS was history. Actually, it was gone by 2000.

Atleast 200+. I still pick up anime VHS tape's regularly if I come across them in used book stores, model shop's or flee market's.
Mainly just to fill out part's of older collections that I never finished during their initial release. Kimagure Orange Road, Ranma1/2. misc OAV's.

The format may be dead but the collection still grow's. ^_^

My anime collection started off on VHS. Let's see, my first title was Sailor Moon Super S The Movie followed by Tenchi Muyo OVA vol.1 and Cardcaptor Sakura vol. 1. Even though I own a few of the Dragonball Z movies on DVD, I actually own much of the Dragonball Z Trunks, Andriod, and World Tournament sagas on VHS. After this, once I started buying anime DVD's, I never went back to VHS again. It was from previews of Fushigi Yuugi on the CCS tape that I became interested in the series. Some anime series such as Tenchi Muyo and CCS, I got the vol. 1's of each respective series on DVD again as well as getting into FY. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, the SNK fanatic in me couldn't resist, I also owned the Samurai Shodown movie on VHS, but that wasn't very good. -_-;

Yeah, like someone already said, by the time I decided to collect anime, VHS was pretty much dead. I still managed to pick up a few things though.

Princess Mononoke
Sailor Moon R the Movie
Sailor Moon S the Movie
Sailor Moon SuperS the Movie
Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug
some random volume of Tenchi Muyo
some random volume of Cardcaptors

All of these I've replaced with DVD versions, except for Princess Mononoke and the DBZ movie, which I'll get to at some point.

I used to have quite a lot of anime on VHS (300+), but when I started buying their DVD counterparts, I got rid of them by trading them in. All I have left on VHS is:

Dragonball - Curse of the Blood Rubies (because it's not on DVD yet)
Akira
Fist of the North Star
Vampire Hunter D

I kept those other three since they were my introduction into anime; I couldn't bare to get rid of them.

Dragonball: Curse of the Blood Rubies can be found on the 2-DVD set called "Legend of Goku" on Trimark/Lions Gate's 'Kidmark' imprint. Though I don't know if this set's available anymore, even though I have it.

For the unknowing, that 2-DVD set has the 1995 Ocean Studios dub.

As for my own collection I have these:

- Scattershot episodes of Ranma 1/2, mainly from seasons 2 and 3, though I think I have one from the 4th as well in there.
- The Slayers (1-8) / Slayers NEXT (1-8) / Slayers TRY (1-4)
(These'll be replaced whenever FUNimation gets those DVDs out. I didn't buy the CPM sets because of all the bad things I heard about them related to video and audio)
- Rurouni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai (1-6) and Legend of Kyoto (tapes 7-10) I also have the OAVs (Trust & Betrayal) and the movie for this.

I was able to part with my Pokemon collection, of which I had tapes 1-12 and 'The First Movie'

The only series I have completed on DVD, that I also still have the VHS for (Because no one wants VHS anymore) is Fushigi Yuugi. All 16 tapes of the TV series.

I've found scattered tapes of anime at flea markets. garage sales...and if you'd believe it.....antique malls! (ones that deal in collectables, not furniture-exclusive malls)

If I do have one VHS tape set on my wish list, it would be those for 'Here is Greenwood'. I do have the Media Blasters reissue, and while their English dub is good, I would have liked to hear some of what CPM's take of that OAV series was. Those tapes I heard are insanely difficult to find, as that title sold poorly (Actually anything from CPM sold poorly until they bought out Software Sculptors and nailed The Slayers and Utena in 1997).

At one time, I had close to 800 VHS tapes. Majority were from fansubbers and other tape traders. Around 3 or 4 years ago, I started throwing out a good chunk of the fansubbed tapes and donated the legit copies to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. I still have some really hard to find ones like Mama Was A 4th Grader and GoLion but those will probably be going soon also. Didn't embrace the DVD media until way later but now that's all I watch along with downloaded content.

^Wow.
My meager collection;

Mobile Suit Gundam movie Trilogy Subbed. My only vhs sub besides the Fire Elblem ova, which I borrowed.

2 Pokemon tapes.

Pokemon movies 1-2.

Digimon movie tape.

4 Leo the White Lion tapes in a random order.

A few TV tapes from when I'd go out and tape anime shows I'd miss on Saturday Toonami/Adult Swim.(what be this "Tivo"?)

Spirted Away dubbed , I rented the dvd though, so I have don't have a reason to buy it.
Watching vhs from time to times gives me hints of nostalgia, though I wish sometimes I became an anime fan sooner and bought more.(too young.)

all my DBZ VHS tapes sit on a shelf lookin all pretty between all my DVDs and video games...most of them have never been opened...and in fact im STILL collecting DBZ VHS tapes because i honestly don't like the art on the DVDs...i prefer the cool scenes that the VHS tapes produce when you put them all together...i find them here and there for like $2 and i jump on them whenever i can. I DOUBT severely that i'll ever watch them but eh they look good on the shelf and that's all i care about :ssj:

Hahaha, this gives me an idea! *new thread creation in 5 or so minutes*

I used to love VHS, but that was because we didn't have a DVD player (parents thought it was a waste of money when they were like $200 or so, and later I was too poor to buy a PS2). Now, I hardly ever buy DVDs. I have a crapload of VHS though, I refuse to throw them out for sentimental reasons.

I had a friend I would pay $5 a month to record Dragonball and Slayers off of the International Channel because we didn't get it, haha. Other than those, I have.... mostly stuff from the local Rental stores that were used. I'll take a pic when I have free time soon. I still remember making covers in paint for the fansubs I bought. Ah, good times.

Oh, yeah... I have around 40 or so VHS tapes. If we're including Jackie Chan tapes, well, that's a whole other area of my room, haha.
