I just finished watching iketeru ecchi, a short five minute anime with 16 episodes, I liked it alot, but the ending pissed me off. the show just ended without any conclusion, my question is why does this happen?! is there a second season or an OVA ( most likely not). why are certain animes sooo short, it get's me so peeved.

I guess some anime`s can be rushed to finish.Which can explain why some quality may be off,or such things like that.It can be due to unpopularity or some other factor.

Iketeru Futari (you must be confusing it with Futari Ecchi) is one of my favorite anime series. If it ever came out in the US I would buy it in a heartbeat. All I have of it are some really poor quality clips that look like they're VHS transfers.

As for the ending, the last episode says "Matane <3" so I'm guessing they originally planned to have a second season but ran out of budget, or there wasnt enough of a fanbase for the project.

Koizumi was an awesome character. She basically looked like Rei Ayanami, but had the man hating buttkicker type personality, ala Naru or Asuna.

While we're talking about short series, what is up with Gestalt? I rented the VHS tape for this anime way back in the days of old and really liked it. The VHS tape had 2 episodes I believe, and at the end of the second episode there was a next episode preview.... A second VHS tape was never released.

I can understand if they ran out of budget and couldnt release the other VHS tapes, but WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH did a DVD version of those same 2 episodes of an incomplete series come out!??

Futari ecchi is another anime about a married couple, anyway the manga goes on longer. I wanna know who he chooses, yuki or koizumi.

I knew you werent talking about Futari Ecchi, I'm just saying you got the name mixed up since you put "iketeru ecchi" in your original post. :P

I didnt know there was a manga, I may have to explore this in furthur detail.

Alien 9 is only 4, and wasn't even finished. Last time I heard at least. I loved that anime.

By the way, only two episodes of Gestalt anime were ever produced.

Ah yes that is another good example. Definately could use more Alien Nine, tho I havent read the manga, so that might have an ending.

Ninja Mono (Ninja Cadets) should have been continued.

Know what else needs more episodes? Noir. Because we all know 26 episodes is nowhere near enoguh Kirika goodness.

I can think of a few . . .

Futari Ecchi - There is 31 volumes of Manga - There's enough material for more than 4 episodes . . . .
Golden Boy - 6 episodes was not enough . . . .
Onegai Teacher - Onegai Twins should have been a second season of Onegai Teacher - not the loli fest that Onegai Twins became . . . .
Moekan The Animation - There seems to be a lot more story to tell with this one . . . .

Basara - One of the greatest manga series I've ever read. The short anime addaption could of been an endless amount better if it didn't get canceled. Only 13 episodes were created from the long 27 volume manga series. It covered the first 5 volumes and suffered a very rushed last few eps due to it being canceled. The series in general is very unknown and doesn't get discussed often. Which imo is a huge shame. The anime (if fully animated/done correctly) would have ranked with some of my very favorites.

Hajime no Ippo - The anime left off in a great place and while 75 episodes, 2 OVAs and a movie might not be considered short to some, it is for Ippo. The manga has reached over 77 volumes worth of material and the anime covered nearly half of that leaving off towards the end of volume 35. Unlike many other series, Hajime no Ippo doesn't have any filler what so ever. Making more would result in catching up in less then 2 years. My hope is that one day when the manga is complete the anime gets completed much like Ashita no Joe did 10 years after the first series had ended. I can't think of anything anime related I'd want to see more then that.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

14 episodes was just not enough. Though unless they fixed the order, more may have made it really really confusing.

Elf Princess Rane only has two episodes. I don't know if this was deliberate or they ran out of money. It drives me CRAZY, leaving it as open and inconclusive as they did!

The Art of Fighting and King Of Fighters: Another Day (Huge potential if they actually based it on the Orochi saga)

The only anime I can think of that I've watched so far is CLAMP's Miyuki-chan in Wonderland. The whole OVA itself was only 30 minutes split with two 15 min. episodes (Miyuki-chan in Wonderland and Miyuki-chan in Mirrorland respectively). The manga on the other hand was much longer and also included 5 chapters more, Miyuki-chan in TV Land, Miyuki-chan in Part-time Job Land, Miyuki-chan in Mahjong Land (interesting), Miyuki-chan in Video Game Land, and the ever so mysterious Miyuki-chan in X Land in which she enters the world of X/1999. I thought they are all very interesting, and I wish these sections could've been animated. If they were, the anime wouldn't have been so short like it was. This one of the most underrated series, but I love it!!

If there was ever an OVA that I wanted more of Golden Boy is definetly high on the list. Its such a fantastic OVA I highly suggest anyone who has not got it go and buy it NOW. Seriously golden stuff.

Ninja Mono (Ninja Cadets) should have been continued.

YES IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN! Almost no one knows what this anime is....you are awesome!

I was so mad when the series just left off without resolve. I really wanted to know what happened, but no one continued it.

UGH.

The only thing that's too short are all these little kids who don't even know the difference between "to" and "too".

Well, there are several anime that were too abrupt because they focused on not so important things for too many episodes, and then the important moments were rushed.

However, for too short per se, perhaps the second season of Voltron. I think all the fans- or at least all the female fans- were hoping for something to happen in the finale that did not happen.

Another series to throw to the mix. Kyou no 5 no 2 was only 2 episodes long. I REALLY hope they make a series based on it because it was awesome.

Not short in terms of episodes but in running time: Noiseman Sound Insect seems to be a 40+ minute story squeezed into 15 minutes.

Of course it might have lost some of it's awesome fast pace if it was longer...

Devil Man OVA was far too short, its was like samples taken from the manga. Its incomplete & would great if it was a series(not talking about the Devil Man from the 70's which was almost nothing like the manga).

A new Devil Man TV series would be great. as long as the animation isn't cheaply done like in Demon Lord Dante-_-;

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

14 episodes was just not enough. Though unless they fixed the order, more may have made it really really confusing.

Take a note of Kadokawa's statements on the runaway success of the Haruhi Suzumiya DVDs.

Watch them make new Haruhi anime if they have to shanghai Bee Train or Toei to do it.

Anime that wasn't long enough?
Zipang only scratched what must be an epic manga.
Dragon Half - or at least someone license/scanlate the manga.
2x2 = Shinobuden - 12 eps is too short!!!!
