Yes, that's Hidan and Kakuzu in a men's bathroom. Hidan complains about the stink. That's where they exchange the monk for the cash.
The spoiler summary is very short. Asuma is worth 35,000,000 in the bingo book. Kakashi tells Naruto: "Naruto...I'm gonna show you something interesting..." Is he going to give Naruto a chakra blade to use? Maybe something from the 4th?
That's it. I hope and expect we get a lot of Team Asuma too. Wasting panels on Hidan and Kakuzu entering and doing business in a men's bathroom wouldn't be very interesting.

Exchanging a corpse for the bounty in a men's restroom ? I thought such things were only done in dark alleyways and secluded area's. A men's restroom is a new one to me.
So Asuma's head has a huge monetary value. 35 million is seriously a lot. I've forgotten how much the monk's value was- think it was like 3 million- but Asuma must've done some stuff to get his bounty that high.
Naruto gets something new. Naruto doesn't seem like a weapon user aside from the usual kunai and shuriken so I doubt it may be some sort or weapon. But I could be wrong. Sasuke doesn't seem like a weapon user and he's now weilding a Kusunagi sword, and with great effect.
That's it. I hope and expect we get a lot of Team Asuma too. Wasting panels on Hidan and Kakuzu entering and doing business in a men's bathroom wouldn't be very interesting.
I dunno. As odd as it seems, I've wondered how they tended to "business" with such large cloaks on. But we won't be seeing any of that.

Yeah, even with the element training, he'll still be at a disadvantage against that sword, so maybe he is going to give him the blade he uses in Kakashi Gaiden.

A voice in the back of my head spontaneously came up with the wild suggestion that Kakashi might end up telling Naruto how he is related to the Yondaime. But that's some serious wishful thinking on the part of that voice in the back of my head, with which the voice in the front of my head heavily disagrees. :P
But really, it's not unlikely that Kakashi might give Naruto something that used to belong to the Yondaime - perhaps a special weapon that the Yondaime had given his star pupil when he was Kakashi's mentor (sensei).

I would be extremely surprised if Naruto did not get a bladed weapon to use. Everything seems to be hinting toward that. Naruto’s training has been all about cutting things at close range. Then we had chapter 317. Naruto wondered why he had to add chakra to Asuma’s blade when it already seemed sharp enough. Asuma explained how wind chakra makes things sharper, then he showed him by cutting through the tree.
“When two ninjas are fighting with edged weapons, the one with the sharper edge wins.” That was Asuma’s quote and it makes me think of Naruto and Sasuke battling in some remote area with swords. Now Naruto could fight on even terms against Sasuke’s Kusunagi sword. Then they can drop the swords and get back into Chidori vs Rasengan and all those combination element jutsus they both each with have by then.
I think Naruto will find out about his father on his own. But Kakashi will start to drop more obvious hints to Naruto. Maybe this something he wants to show him will be one of them.

Yeah I wouldn't doubt it if Yondy gave Kakashi something special like a weapon or some technique. I think people sometimes forget that Kakashi has way more techniques he has yet to show(or what Kishimoto has decided to show us).

i would LOVE it if the whole scene went down as a Star Wars tribute, and basically is something like Kakashi giving Naruto a sword or something, and the scene is laid out just like the scene where Obiwan gives Luke his father's light sabre :D

I don't think Kakashi's going to "give" him anything, per se. The caption at the bottom did say that the next chapter would be "Kakashi's Power". So I'm expecting Kakashi to show him some amazing elemental jutsu or the like.
It's also interesting that Kishimoto is tacking bounties onto Naruto characters now, just like One Piece. It adds a certainly level of excitement and expectation to it all, but... it seems like it's a pretty late addition to Naruto at this point, so it would hardly have the same effect on readers and viewers as the bounties in One Piece do, since the bounties are used as an indication of power or threat that the character poses. Still... if Kishimoto gets it done right and uses it correctly, it could really hype some things up... or it may just be a temporary thing.

Not a bad chapter. I found it interesting that Kishimoto seems to have made this as a return to the start, where there is some seriousness with comedy mixed in. He's been doing a fair amount of that recently.
It seemed a bit short to me, though.

I thought the ramen cutie's name was Ayame, but the translation I read ( from NF )had it as.... Akane ? Not a major goof on a name, but a goof none the less. But what's odd is that Naruto AND Kakashi both refered to her as "ramen cutie". Well, they are right you know. She is most definitely cute.
Asuma's bounty is what's messing with me. I think I've read like three translations so far and 1 scanlation and each has Asuma's bounty as a different number. So what's his correct bounty rate ? Guess I'll wait and see what better translations has it has. Whatever the correct number is, it's still higher than Chiriku's bounty.
Also in every translation I read, Kakashi never said to Naruto that he would give him something; it was that he would show him something. I personally haven't the faintest clue as to what that could possibly be. I'm drawing a blank on that one.
Otherwise, not a very evenful chapter. Not much shown, not much valuable info given. A medial chapter , if anything.

Sounds like Kakashi has a thing for Ayame the ramen girl. ^_^ I'd much rather have seen Kakashi flirt with her than those two clowns. They weren't even funny. Someone said they were in the movie which is probably why Kishi put them there.
I've seen 53,000,000, 35,000,000, 8,050,000 and 3,050,000 as the bounty on Asuma's head. If it's 3,050,000 then it's only 50,000 more than the monk. I am not sure why Asuma would brag then. The fact that he his bragging at all about them not taking him is clue number 900 that he's going to die.
Hopefully we start seeing Shika and Asuma do something. Shika not doing much always makes the chapter seem duller to me. :P
If Kakashi wanted to show Naruto a jutsu then he probably would have gone back to the training grounds with him. Naruto wanted to go back to training, but Kakashi than said he wanted to show him something really interesting first. Sounds like whatever this is has to be done in town.

According to the translation I read, Asuma said the bounty on his head is five million more than the bounty on Chiriku's head, but I don't know why he would brag about it. A bounty that high means bounty hunters will be willing to go to greater extremes to capture him. If I were in his shoes, I'd be more careful...and I wouldn't have refused the monk's offer to pray for me.

I think Kakashi is going to give Naruto something. The title of the next chapter, "Kakashi's Power," may not necessarily be a reference to a jutsu. It could always be a reference to a unique weapon in Kakashi's possession; a weapon can be considered a "power," as well, depending.

Didn't Kakashi's father leave him with the special blade that controls the "white chakra"? Perhaps it has been reforged and now Naruto will have his own blade handed down to him by Kakashi to counter Sasuke and his blade. Oh how I love this sword stuff!

Yeah, he didn't refuse it. Infact he's seen with his hands folded in prayer with the old monk. Personally, I'm taking that as another sign Asuma's not going to be around much longer. Praying for a character's peace and good luck almost always ends up with something bad happening with that character.
Chiriku's bounty is 3 million ryou. Asuma brags his is 5 million ryou more in the best translation I read. Asuma's bounty is 8 million ryou? Good lord, what did he do ? Well, nearly all of the 12 Guardians have or had large bounties on their heads. My question is... why? Why would people who were supposed to protect the Fire Lord have such large bounties. My only guess is that the larger the bounty, the more powerful that individual is. Similar to the fashion that the higher the ranking on a mission, the more dangerous it is aswel as the higher the criminal ranking, the more dangerous they are. I guess it would denote a power status and it makes sense to put powerful ninja in charge of protecting your Lord. But still.....why ones with bounties ? It seems to me it would be more prudent to use powerful ninja that do not have a bounty rather than using ones that do.
But that also brings up other questions. How did they get the bounties on their heads ? Was it before they became part of the 12 Guardians and they were sought out ( as mentioned above ) or was it beacuse they once were part of the 12 Guardians ? Asuma speaks of when he left the vilage. Could it have been because of that ?
Adding the bounty thing could make things more interesting, or it could complicate things like I'm doing here.

The bounty is from the Black Market, so I am betting that all powerful ninja's have them. If a powerful ninja dies than its better for the criminals of the world. I am also thinking the bounty is because of the 12 guardian thing, Chikuru was a monk for the Temple of Fire, and I don't think that's going to fetch money on the black market.
ffl
August 26th, 2006, 12:27 PM
Yeah, the bounties are what they are worth for enemy ninjas, or bounty hunters, to get rid of them. The higher the bounty, the bigger the threat they are to other hidden ninja villages or other countries. Chiriku may have been a monk of the Fire Temple, but he is still one of the 12 Guardians, and pretty strong, so that explains why his bounty is at that number. Asuma's bounty being higher shows that he's stronger and considered to be more of a threat to other ninja villages during missions. The daimyo, feudal lord, of the Fire Country doesn't have a bounty... he doesn't do anything besides govern... I would assume. If he was kidnapped though, then he could be ransomed for a large sum of money.
And "no", I'm not "picking off" theories, I'm just clarifying things. Also, another point, Kakashi's chakra blade was probably forged with the same technique of "folding" the metal in layers that katana are made with, so it would most likely not be repaired because it would not be as strong as it originally was due to the way it was created. If he does have another blade that he uses, it probably isn't his father's, unless he feels secure using a broken blade.
abomination
August 26th, 2006, 02:46 PM
Well, the bounties are officially listed in the Bingo Book, so it doesn't seem like it would be a black market deal it it were official. The Bingo Book list all ninja who are considered very skilled and powerful and the enemies that pose a threat to a village. Each village ( or country ) has it's own set of Bingo Books and it's own set of enemies. All of them are ranked for their level of dangerousness, with the most dangerous being given an S-Rank ( such as Itachi ). All missing-nin are in their respective village's Bingo Books aswell as a few other villages. Even Kakashi and Yamato are in other village's versions aswell. But, does every person listed in them have a bounty ? Is it only certain individuals that have bounties or is it mandatory to give everyone in the book a bounty based on their skills and abilities ?
Currently, my assumption of the bounties are that not all individuals listed have them. Most just pose a threat and it's pretty much ok to assassinate them at any given time. If you could kill them, you would pretty much be doing a service to the hidden villages. It's only certain ninja, for whatever reason, that are given a bounty on their heads. Adding a bounty means there's something special about them.
That's pretty much my take on it, which as you may guess, may pretty well be wrong and needs to be corrected.

The Stoptazmo crew brought out an interesting point; the bounty, aside from
its relation to vengeance money, might also be related to a special attribute of Asuma that is of great importance. If you can kill Asuma without ruining the body that much, maybe the corpse can be studied to acquire a certain jutsu.

The difference with the spin is that the hyuga must seek out and connect a blow to the apponent while in this state, however with the type of ability in question, anything that would come in contact with him would pretty much be torn to ribbons, like shredding paper in a paper shredder.

They don't have to seek out anything with the Kaiten. They just send out their chakra while spinning around to create a powerful chakra force field.
But Naruto will most probably end up forming a large wind version of the Rasengan. If he learns a second element anything soon, he'll somehow combine the two and maybe then we'll get more infor on his background.
