I haven't done a vs. thread in awhile so I thought I could do another tonight. It's The Simpsons vs. King of the Hill. I was always curious which one is more popular. I think The Simpsons would be since it's been around for like ever. Personally I prefer King of the Hill. I got tired of The Simpsons after a while. So anyways which one do you all prefer best? ^_^

Kinda difficult to choose, but I would have to say that I prefer King of the Hill... right now, that is. Of course, the first eight or so seasons of The Simpsons were great, but now... King of the Hill, most def.

It's just, I don't know... I enjoy King of the Hill's "Reality," maybe? I mean, with The Simpsons, the writers just go bananas and milk those stereotypical characters for all they're worth. King of the Hill has that satire and the comedy, but its more "natural." Of course, The Simpsons is all about the Loudness, and I wouldn't want it any other way... However, it's pretty dead, now. The writers are either trying too hard or not trying hard enough...

Then again, I have seen neither King of the Hill nor The Simpsons in like a good two months, but last time I checked, Hank and Crew were definitely winning.

I dunno... Any show that has Mr. Sparkle wins IMO...

They are both wildly diffrent comedy styles. King of the Hill is 'harder' to get for most people. In terms of getting all the little jokes as well as the obvious ones. Simpsons is allot more obvious but still has its quality. Both make me laugh so its all good.

I have a hard time laughing at most of the KotH comedy, so Simpsons is better. I don't think KotH is even a comedy show...

Family Guy.
Though Simpsons is a close second.

Seasons 3 through 5 of the Simpsons > Family Guy and KotH

Venture Brothers beasts on current Family Guy seasons.

It's been a few years, but The Simpsons.

King of the Hill is funny at times, but not as funny. Plus I don't like Hank's extremely conservative nature, it irritates me.

Thats the point with hank. Its kinda a satire with him.
But I get what you mean.

I too at first was annoyed with Hank, but I came to admire his rightousness.

The character that REALLY irritates me in KOH now is Peggy. After she recovered from her stupid parachute accident she became more and more intollerable by the episode! Gah! I rewatched the ep where Hank become the substitute Shop Class teacher and she's so freakin' annoying in it! Always trying to appear smart, to appear better, to be at the forefront of everything, she's got some SEVERE confidence issue I tell ya!

Well I agree with most of the comments made against Kill of the Hill, but I still like it better than the Simpsons. I guess I grew out of the Simpsons. I know I know that may not even been possible. I just love King of the Hill since it reminds me somewhat of how things are here where I live in a small town. I've actually seen older guys standing around drinking beer, talking about sports, and going "Yup"...Seriously.

as probably the most avid simpsons fan on here it really went down hill after season 10 or so when david X cohen left for futurama, and tons of writers left for disney, thus the non stop crap of the digital drawn show from 2002 and on is really and sadly a disgrace of what was. After season 8 with Mr. Sparkle I thought it would get really super great, yet it started to go down hill like I said when all the attention was split when they started working on Futurama and 100% concentration of the Simpsons. The exact time of it going down hill I'd say is about episode 224 which was the last great show before digital came along. Sure digital is nicer, but with priorities switching from the writing process to the pure art is rather sad. Yet I still prefer the Simpsons due to jsut getting Season 8 on DVD with MR. SPARKLE. The greatest simpsons B story ever. But My favorite Episode was in Season 7 with Homerpaloza which reffers to his highschool days. What will season 18 be like, hopefully an increase of writing, but I still watch it for the allowance of being able to say I wath the show still. Other than that there are very few strands left in the show, but they are enough to keep me from king of the hill.

Currently: King of the Hill

New Simpson episodes are poorly written and poor animated.

I don't know about poorly animated, but they haven't been really great in terms of writing. Every damn ep seems to be about Homer and Marge save the day by being married. After...how many seasons? I think the show needs to go ahead & end. It's done its part of being engrained into american pop culture. Groening needs to let the series pass on, and concentrate on the new seasons of futurama

I don't really like either on to much. I agree that the Groening needs to let the Simpsons die while they still have a little dignity.

Yeah the Simpsons have been going on too long. They just need to let the show go. We can always enjoy the re-runs which are always good.

King of the Hill doesn't compare to the best Simpsons episodes, but King of the Hill is fairly consistant and also less suspension of disbelief is required - unlike recent Simpsons plotlines.

The Simpsons by far, besides the last seasons which have been lame but the past classic seasons are still amazing. King of the Hill I find alright though, I used to watch it a lot more when it first aired.

Past seasons of the Simpsons were great, but recently its been nowhere near as good. King of the Hill has its moments, but in terms of being memorable I chose the Simpsons.
