Ramune. If that counts. That's always #1. Regular is the best, but they're all good.

Pocky is good. Strawberry is my fave but they're all good, again.

Sushi is good...

etc.

Sushi is OK(Ish) and as sad as it sounds but the best sushi bar I ever went to was in birmingham.

I like udon and sushi... I mostly just stick to noodles and fish as far as Japanese food goes... I actually prefer Chinese moreso, mainly due to the variety. I do like Japanese candy, although Pocky gets very old... Botan Rice Candy FTW!

料理X 食べ物○

料理 is more like an actual dish, cooked (IE: Making it from scratch and using ingredients to make....mabo tofu, Ishiyaki Nabe, etc....also not just for it, but usually only used for something that uses pots and pants.). Not trying to be picky, but just don't want you guys to remember japanese words wrong.

Like Mel said it's all about ramen from an actual ramen shop. Cup Noodle and Top Ramen are pretty good, but you haven't lived till you've had real shoyu ramen.

I want to go to a real japanese restaurant and eat real ramen so bad. I haven't had the priveledge of doing so yet. There is a japanese steak house around where I live, I want to go there soon, you just have to make reservations first.

Udon soup is god. I don't care that my dad detests it, I LOVE it. O_O

Too bad you can't get it in Mexico. Mexican restaurants think macho bananas mixed with rice, chopped into sushi squares and served with cajeta sauce is Japanese food. Sincerely I have my doubts.

I like seafood sushi a lot as well.

i like real ramen w/ kamoboko, seaweed, and maybe some gyoza to mix it up... I like tamago sushi (oxymoron?) and the normal chicken teriyaki, katsudon, chicken katsu, salmon teriyaki, and occassionally sukiyaki.

as for candy, love the boton candy, the milky, the koala no machi thingy, and a few others

as for drinks - ramune, japanese flavored water thing (pockari sweat, acquarius, etc.), and their kocha stuff (cold tea)

Most items on the menu at a typical izakaya, some of which are mixed in with the below list

kushi-katsu
yaki-onigiri
grilled gin-dara (silver cod)
ni-mono
tofu and kaisoo salad
korokke
kaki-fry
nabe-mono
tako-yaki
gyoza
shrimp kara-age (especially the tiny kawa-ebi!)
tsuke-mono of all kinds, especially shiba-zuke
nasu dengaku
okonomi-yaki (esp. Hiroshima-yaki)
chawan-mushi
okayu with more than one piece of umeboshi on top
all kinds of sushi and sashimi, esp. toro, uni, hirame
............

I could go on forever.....

Donto is a fan of simple stuff, the type you can make at home.

Yaki Niku
Okinomiyaki
Tonkatsu
Tori no kara kage

But always GYOZA (I can make it, but I prefer JFC frozen ones)

I've also got a few other things, but haven't successfully prepared them so I can't fully comment on them yet.

I do miss my mom's cooking.... I appreciate it now more than ever since I live on my own. Her niku-jaga and oden were the best!

When it comes to food, there are times when I crave simple things and then others when I want higher-end, fancier stuff. I appreciate both equally, since good food is good food, no matter what the cuisine or budget. I hate the term "foodie", since it implies that one only wants to eat the latest, trendiest, most expensive cuisines. I appreciate spanish pata negra iberico ham (retails for $600/kg over here!), just as much as I do an honest-to-goodness grilled cheese sandwich with crispy fries. I think I've found a likeminded community of people who feel the same way @ a site called Chowhound.

Oops...got caught up in a tangent there, but if there is one thing I'm passionate about in my life, it's great food, wether it's high/low/middle-of-the-road cuisine!
