Here's an official/final list of the robots appearing in the TRANSFORMERS movie, per the recently announced web chat with writers Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci.
AUTOBOTS: Optimus Prime. Bumblebee ("The same G1 character we always knew and loved...He's the scout, the one that comes ahead of the Autobots"). Jazz. Ratchet (medical officer/science officer - new form, not an ambulance). Ironhide ("He's the muscle - a tough soldier...The first one to jump into battle" ).
DECEPTICONS: Megatron (has a Social Darwinist view of humanity - survival of the fittest). Starscream. Brawl ("an extremely pissed off Decepticon. Always ready to jump into a fight, even when the fight isn't worth it.") Bonecrusher. Barricade. Skorpinok. Frenzy (an infiltrator). Blackout (sends an EMP-style blast to take out electronics, detection devices, etc. in advance of Decepticon attack).

This is one of those films that already looks like it's gonna fail from the start... I predict lots of rotten reviews in RottenTomatoes...

I loved my Soundwave toy as a kid. This movie isn't looking good. I mean sure, they have lots of other cool transformers, but they work together to make the show cool. If ya left out Starscream, but put Soundwave in, that wouldn't be any better.

You would think since two of the thing's little kids really jazz for are T-Rex's and Robot's he would be somewhere in the line-up. If for nothing else then to draw in more of the toy buying tike crowd.

Guess a stupid Robot Dinosaur was to far out for Bay's realism based gogobots. ^_^

Should have been animated and done by the same guys that did Beast Wars. But whatever, it wreaked of failure from the getgo. Plus, no Devistator vs. Dinobot is an automatic fail.

No they use them quite a lot in beast Wars and the Comic from Dream somthing. They are makeing disposable Decepticons

Anyway, is this movie based off the other one at all? Or at least follow the comics. I'm just wondering if I'm gonna get a bastardized version of the story I used to love. Speaking of which, is a certain Autobot leader going to di... uhh, lose his matrix... Yeah, I'm sure most people know it anyway, but if that's what the movie ends with then I hope they do it right. Leave it open for another maybe. And perhaps they can work on a GI Joe movie as well and have some tie ins? I've always wanted to see a live action Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow go at it.


Somewhat related, one of my friends is doing the lighting for the movie, and said that they could use some more help. So if anyone is in Cali (I think that's where he's at now) and has some free time, haha.

They should have had Metroplex and Trypticon in the cast because that would have a been a cool fight scene between the two. Metroplex is the Autobot that transforms into a battle station and is the strongest Autobot and Trypticon is Decepticon that transforms into a battle station too but his robot form is a Dinosaur. Metroplex is so strong in robot form that it would take a Nuclear explosion to scratch his armor.

I think the original VA for Star Scream has passed away, so he won't sound nearly as cool (or pissed off) as the original :(

I got this from Wikipedia:Frenzy- Originally scripted to be Soundwave, he was supposed to be a boombox that transformed into a human-sized robot; extreme fan backlash over the character has led to the character being renamed and Soundwave being held over until a sequel, where Murphy said "...we can get him right." The character was rumored to be renamed Soundbyte, but this has recently been dismissed by official sources. The character has now been renamed Frenzy as a homage to the G1 character who was a minion of Soundwave. His role in the film is that of a spy among humans for the Decepticons.

I'm sure there will be a sequel and Soundwave will probably be in it.

If the other pics of the Autobots and Decepticons are any indication, that might just be the final version of Megatron (who most likely will turn into his G2 incarnation, a tank).

I still am pissed, though.
1) No Soundwave.
2) No Dinobots.
3) H.R. ****ing Giger designs.

On top of which, Bumblebee is apparently transforming into a Corvette. Or Camaro. Or something. It's a sportscar.
