It's been how many years, and there are still comics about FFVII? I mean, this wasn't bad, it was amusing - not laugh-out-loud funny - but isn't the subject matter rather dated?

Ah, that would explain a lot. I don't really follow the strip regularly, so I hadn't seen it before.
