John, I may not have been exactly keeping up with your viewing journal, but I'd like to know what is your opinion on which format of GitS you enjoy more: The movies, or the series.

To me, there is a huge discrepancy between the two styles of storytelling used: One (the movies) is more focused on the philosophical discussions and background of the manga. The other seems to go alot more with the technology, action, and conspiracies that surround Section 9. As much as I'm inclined to say I like the TV series more, if not for the better pacing, I'd still like to here what are your thoughts of the direction of the series in contrast to the movies, and vise versa.

Honestly, I've never seriously compared the two franchises. I know that it's all GitS anime, but it doesn't seem fair to compare a pair of theatrical movies to 48 TV episodes, especially when they're so stylistically different. I don't think I particularly enjoy the movies or TV series significantly more than the other. My appreciation and respect for both is about equal.
