Cracking RAR files

I have a rar file that was encrypted when I downloaded it. What is a possible way for me to crack it?

It's not hacking or anything. It's just asking how to open an encrypted file that I don't have a passy to. I didn't say anything on what's inside the file.

1,960,000 search results from the search phrase "cracking RAR files" in google. Lots of freeware utilities. I recommend you download the one you trust and experiment with it.

Or... you could look at the site where you downloaded the RAR file, and see if they've got the password written down. Hard to imagine why anyone would distribute something that couldn't be opened, innit?

Some people are stupid like that. I looked all over for freeware, but turns out you have to buy the freeware. Funny? And I also checked around the site I got it from.

If you got it from 4chan, it's probably beastiality. You're best off deleting the file and reformatting your hard drive.

No, you need something (ideally software that works continually like a macro) to go through possible password options and to figure out the algorithm used to create the password security and then either create a faux-password (like a fake CD key) or to discover the actual password (trial and error).

Check the site you downloaded it from, it probably has the password on it. In fact, try using the site's name as the password.

I have some hacking and cracking material, but it's macintosh based. You can go on hacker site to get the stuff for free, but that's an extreme you may not want to try just yet. If we had more info on the file, maybe we could help?

What site did you get it from? Could we have personal access to it to try craking it ourselves? Was the file recommended from another site? Name of the file, content of the file, etc. Though only give us as much information as you're willing to give out.

Yes, it is - which is why I was confused as hell when I couldn't open a CDrip of Gokujou Seitokai's second OP single done by Nipponsei. Passworded, for no apparent reason. *shrugs*

I'm still trying random stuff, but since I obviously lack intelligence, I have not input "Nipponsei". I'm dumb. XD

It links to another site though. I think the original site is something lie coa.juggaloswithin.net or something.

That should be plenty. Sorry to say, however, that I currently do not have the required hardware to test it out, though I will tomorrow. So in the meantime try every password variation you can think of and keep in mind that it may be case-sensitive.

Password examples:

Song author
Distributor of the download
Recording company
File name or bits of it.
Etc.

Can't do more than that for now.
