Question about Neji

What exactly does the curse seal on Nejis forehead do? I just watched the ep where he explains it but I musta missed it. It doesnt stop him from using the Hyuuga bloodline traits or fighting Hinata so Im a lil confused.

Could someone clear this up for me? Thanks

I guess the best way to explain it is the Hyuugas have two houses. The main one(Hinata's) and the branch house(Neji's). The cursed seal is put on members of the branch house by the main house. Neji's uncle Hiashi put the seal on him. So main house members can control branch house members and kill them in an instant if they so choose by activating the seal. It also keeps the secrets of the Byakugan safe since it seals the Byakugan after the wearer dies. Branch house members often feel expendable and inferior in their own clan. No matter how strong Neji gets, he can never lead the clan and will always be at the mercy of the main house. Most of Neji's angst is due to this and the belief that the main house killed his father by activating his father's own cursed seal. That is why he hates Hinata and was even willing to kill her during the chuunin exams. This turned out not to be true. His father actually died protecting Hiashi's life and Neji learns this after fighting Naruto. At the start of Part II, the Hyuugas all seem to be getting along now.

How would you feel if you were him? He was merciless before he saw how things really were and he began to change, but even when he acted heartless, selfish, and arrogant, he didn't just choose to be that way. Look at what he went through. Would you be a happy person after that? I'm not trying to start anything, I just want you to consider this from his point of view and in light of what happened to him. He was full of hate and anger before things changed, but the things that happened to him made him that way.

lol, i know how Neji feels, my parents tried to dictate my life in every way. So I can see where he is coming from...but there are better ways to get your point across, and he should have gotten the whole story before he decided what happened and what didnt happen...ya know what i mean? And my parents and I now have a good relationship, they understand that I am grown and dont try to dictate my life anymore...simple as sitting down and WANTING to talk it out. Neji had so much hate in his heart (as did I at one point)...and i understand that he is changing(as i have seen myself also)...i'm just not a very big fan of the character...he is to cought up on himself in my opnion.

Kids aren't supposed to run their own lifes for christ sake, kids that get mad at their parents for dictating thier life are ****ing retarded. If you have such contorl over your life when a kid you should have left the nest sicne you knew so much. And yes im sure you can see exactly where neji is coming from seeings how your parents put a curse seal on you that can kill you whenever they want. How stupid can you get, its not real life its manga, everything about it is cliche.

What really had confused me was during the flash back when Neji's dad tried to use the Byakugan on Hinata and Hinata's dad stepped in and activated the seal. At first I thought the seal activated just b/c he tried to attack the heir to the head branch.

the only reason her father activated the seal then was b/c he felt that neji was trying to attack them, or his only daughter, her being the only hier to the bloodline. it all ends good though, once you get farther than you are now in eps (after neji gets his *** kicked by naruto that is :P ) then the family comes back together. as they say, all well ends well :lol:
