Suzuoki Hirotaka, who played Bright Noa died on the 6th from lung cancer.

He also did Tatekwaki Kuno, a favourite character of mine.

Farewell Eternal Captain. :(

This is the worst "celebrity death" I've ever seen posted on AN. Meaning it's a bad thing that he's dead.

Rest in peace, Hirotaka-sama. You truly were the greatest captain.. not only in Gundam, but Rurouni Kenshin as well.

Yeah, I was going to mention that he played Saitou Hajime in Rurouni Kenshin as well.

I think, to remember this occaision, I'm going to watch some episodes of Gundam, Ranma, and RurouKen that feature his voice and honor his memory.

Wow, and he was only 56, too.

Also mighty warrior of the Sun, Haran Banjou, (Daitarn 3) and leader of the Good Thunder Team, Shingo Hojoh (Goshogun).

According to ANN, Suzuoki-san is the fourth member of the Gundam Acting staff to pass away.

Suzuki Seiichi (Slender; Oscar Dublin) in 1997.
Shiozawa Keneto (Cameron Bloom; Clamp; Humrau; Job John; Kal; M'quve; Marigan; Marker Clan; Omur Fang; Sol; Stetch; Sunmalo; Torgan) in 2000.
Inoue You (Sayla Mas;Coally; Haro; Kikka Kitamoto; Milly Ratokie; Pelo) in 2003, also of lung caner.

I think the salute from Mobile Suit Gundam II: Ai Senshi is in order.

You do, unless you get killed by something.

(that's what it seems to be like in the asian half of my family, anyway... they live forever unless they're killed by something first...)

This has got to be the worst "celebrity death" I've seen during my time here. I guess I will watch some Gundam and Kenshin later.

The knowledge that the voice of Kuno is dead is more important to me on a personal level than, perhaps, it should be. For a long time, I've considered Kuno to be like my totem, or something. In a way, it's like he's my avatar... not on the forum, but in real life. Not like that makes any sense to anyone but me.

The fact that he also was the actor for Captain Bright just makes it a double-blow. Farewell, Kuno-sempai.

The restoration of my Kuno avatar is the only tribute I can offer.
