On loads of sites like these that I goto, people have pictures/images moving or still, in there sigs and they post them up when they want to show someone something they like.
How do I do that?
Thanks :)

No pics in sigs here.
On another note (from the FAQ):
How long can my signature be?
Signatures can be no more than 6 lines in length. Signatures with larger fonts must be roughly equivalent to 6 lines at the standard size.
Signatures are best short and sweet. The content should be contained in quality posts and not in people's signatures. Plus, images in signatures increase loading time and bandwith.

Also, nothing too bad goes in the sigs. Keep it respectful in some manner.

Also, you'll start to enjoy the "no image in sig. rule," it makes the forum look alot cleaner and it's easier to read.

I do enjoy it, I hated the images in the sigs, I was just wondering how you do post images?
But this one guy had a 5 inch pic in his sig! It was rediculas.
I used to have a 6 line sig, 3 lines but a line in-betwen each one too. Now i've got that, but I am going to add something. I just wish I could load an avatar from the net.
My bro isn't happy about me being on this site because I clicked a link and got a virus threat, so i'm not gonna ask him if I can save an avatar for use with this site.
The threat was a fake though, it was one of those that tells you that there's a virus and you have to buy there V killer to shift it.
But on this other site, i've been gone for 5 days and I went back to post something (promised i'd inform them of the golden joystick voting) and I had been banned for spamming, someone with my IP was spamming, and it deffinitley wasn't a family member, because I keep the laptop hidden from them by orders of my older bro.
I think he just banned me by accident, because I had replied to the spammer, but this was when he had been spamming before I left. So he'll have banned me too by accident and he'll be covering his ***. I see it happen all the time on many a site.

And you have no idea how grateful I am to hear that. Seriously. I loathe image sigs. I don't care if the artist has the skill of a renaissance artist; I don't want to see the same image a dozen times a day.

You want to see an example of bad image sig abuse? Check out the following image sig:

There are so many images on that page that it's almost hard to find the content, but look at the OP's sig. It's a "feh" poem, in my opinion, and the art is the same old anime-inspired stuff you see anywhere else. Yet it takes up two full screens on that page. Can you imagine what that does to a conversation thread full of one-sentence replies? Oi, vay!
Sorry. Needed to vent. Kudos to AN for not allowing image sigs. Carry on.

On some forums there is a small browser,so you can upload a picture and post at the same time.In other places you would have to use a imagehosting website, since there is no browser.

Yep, seen em like that before. Just a whole page spammed with images, and flashes, and moving avatars, and about 4 words of text in each reply, that's about it. It sucks, I love AN :)

This is the only message board I got to. It's clean.

Same here. I also loathe images in sigs, but I do visit a few sites that have them. One site in particular, JustBball.com allows images, but with very strict restrictions on the size, which really helps the forum's image. I once visited a sig that had seriously oversized images in their sigs, and I made a mental note not to go back.
I, like you, Desslock, I'd leave the instant images were allowed in sigs at AN. I am pretty confident that it will never happen.

Well on my forum, I like to allow pictues in sigs, but it's strictly limited. The only way to limit it, is by changing the amount of lines. But that does nothing for the size of the image.Which means I just have to realy on moderators to look out for big sigs. Most fourms I guess find this too much of a hassle, so they either have image sigs and just odnt care about the size(Ala, what Desslock posted) or turn off the image code in sigs.

I could care less about if there is an image or just text in a signature. What more gets my goat is when people have an image that breaks the table (well, the scrolling part).
On this one forum I go to the people really are not... "familar" with admin'ing a message board. There is no limit on anything. One member had an avatar that was around 800x600. This was on a phpbb board where the avatars are on the side. I could barely see what he had posted. On this same board members have signatures that are literally wallpaper size. GG indeed.
I have no problem with smaller graphics. Motion doesn't irritate me either, but if someone has no skill with Photoshop, ehhhh, then my opinion might change, haha. Along with this are sigs and Avatars that are too blurry or pixelated (or crappy). Use a freaking nice image, it's not that hard. Honestly.
For avatars, 80x80 is a nice size (even 100x100 isn't too bad) and sigs are nice at 80px height or so (or 8 lines on 12pt font). But unless someone _really_ goes over, I don't have a problem doing a little extra scrolling.

I personally like having a 615x100 or 5 lines of text rule. The forum still looks fairly clean, and everybody can do basicaly whatever they want with their sig space.

Goto the advanced post page and click the button that looks like a camera. Type, or copy and paste, in the link to the image. Just don't over do it. Use Imageshack (www.imageshack.us) to provide a thumbnail or just give a link.
Pic sigs can be cool if done right. My sister goes to this forum that has no apparent rules on limits, some of those thing are huge! Another forum I go to has a 100 high by 615 rule and it looks good. But I agree that AN doesn't need to spend money on extra bandwidth just to have pic sigs. Money better spent on more hentai on RA.

Actually AN spends more money on regular sigs. The forum server needs actively used storage place to save them, as an image is just link to some other place that should bother about the traffic.
