You need to update your Driver. Is your Audio on-board?

Did you delete your audio drivers or something?

Yes, mine is.

If your wasn't, it could have been deleted as a related file to the program you deleted. Either way, it sounds like a driver problem(so get a new one, I use AC97 on my eMachine).

If not the drive you could be having motherboard problems.

AC97 isn't actually a driver, it's a specification. Most on-board soundchips are AC97 compatible, but that does not mean that they all use the same driver. You need to find out what model of Dimension you have, and then you can find the right driver for your PC.

Dell Dimension 2400

Altec Lansing 121i speakers.

Does this help?

Forget about your speakers, that's not important. They aren't a part of your problem. What you need to do is to go to http://support.dell.com/?~ck=mn and choose your product from the list on that website. The direct link to the driver page for the 2400 is here (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_CEL_2400&os=WW1&osl=EN)

Only one problem - there are three possible audio devices that your PC could have. It could have an on-board sound chip, or it could have two diferent variants on the SoundBlaster Live. I'm going to assume you don't know which so I need you to go to the Control Panel. If you don't know how to do that, then say so.
