In the Off-Topic board and Japanese Culture boards, I have noticed a lot of questions involving cellphones and would like to know if it would be possible to create a dedicated thread to answer general or specific questions regarding ringtones, service providers and other questions. One person even suggested a script be created to pm me whenever a question pops up. Just for the sake of information, I am an authorized dealer for three of the four major carriers in the US (T-Mobile, Cingular, Sprint) but also offer a wealth of info on purchasing international phones for use in the US. Just a thought I'd like to hear feedback on.

Step back for a second. Okay. Let's think about this. Your asking them, to make a sub-category about cell-phones. On an anime forum. Does this not sound akward if not stupid to you?

They wouldn't make a subforum for videogame polls, don't hold your breath for them to make this.

I don't think Axl's asking for a specific subforum (which, I agree, is rediculous). Actually, perhaps a sticky in either OT or Japanese culture, would be best. I've noticed an almost flood of questions recently (there was one or two in the JC subforum, and there have been a couple more in the OT forum) and a couple of older threads. Even if the sticky was just concerning Japanese phones, such as why most average JP phones won't work in the US (or vica verce), or what to do about getting a Japanese phone to work in the US, etc. it could be informative to have a single reference point.
I'm no where near as knowledgable as Axl in the catagory, but after a much longer stint than I like remember working with Conglomo Cellular Service* and being put on as the tech guy of the group (since I was the only one who knew how to research it), I've learned that a lot more goes into choosing a cellular phone that the actual device's features. Many people don't really realize how many different types of networks and transmission/access methods really exist; after all, if my phone works at home, why not everywhere else?
