What is the fastest browser? Is it Firefox with the fasterfox plugin or what?

faster... it is such a subjective term sometimes. What makes it fast"er" is even more confuzzling.

I don't believe that a browser has anything to do with the speed of your internet. Your speed is determined by your connnection and a few other variables.

So all those advertisements for "the fastest browser" are fake?

I feel like a noob now...

well faster could also equal the time it takes for the broswer to deal with the information recieved over the connection.

1) less RAM usage
2) less CPU usage
3) extensions and such
4) memory

That's why faster is somewhat subjective.

No web browser is really going to change your 10mb transfer rate to 11mb.

Joeshie is pretty much right. There's nothing substantial that a browser, or any other piece of software, can do to affect your internet connection speed. I've heard of FasterFox, but I remain skeptical that there's any real benefit to be gained from it. There is also the question of that other kind of speed, the speed at which the program responds to the user. I'd say that since Firefox takes longer to load than IE, it's not the fastest in that regard.
