I'm sure everyone here has at least heard of the Ultimate Fighting Championships. In America, mixed martial arts events such as the UFC, while growing in popularity still lag behind mainstream sports such as football. In Japan however, MMA shows such as PRIDE are featured on cable television. Fighters from the organization often become mainstream sports stars.
Here is a highlight video for Kazushi Sakuraba, probabily the most popular Japanese MMA fighter. The first few minutes of the vid are just of his whacky ring entrances. If you want to see the fighting, skip around to the three minute mark.

Ironically enough, Pride is more popular in Japan most likely because the owners don't ***** out the license to advertising sponsorships and ensue drama between the fighters in the vein of WWE the way UFC has been doing over here. As a result, it's taken very seriously.
There's also the fact that the UFC doesn't have Cro Cop or Fedor.

Takada is a total joke. Both of his wins in PRIDE are known to be blatant works. These days, he's working on the business side of PRIDE.
