I like techno music but I have no idea what the names of any techno artists are? Could some techno fans suggest good techno albums, artists, or just songs for me that I could check out?

What type are you looking for? No one is ever going to take you seriously if you call it techno. Make sure you call it EDM(Electronic Dance Music), and people might actually list artists.
I listen to some Happy Hardcore, and Eurobeat. But I mostly listen to Hardcore, IDM, Drum n'Bass and Noise.
Artists:
Infected Mushroom
Gaber
DJ Rankin
DJ Hype
Calyx
Thievery Corporation
Technical Itch
Depeche Mode

Yeah, see, that's why I'm asking this question. I never even heard of EDM. Thanks for some suggestions though.

As for type, can you list some and what there style or characteristics are?

Look for Limited Editions 1990-94 and Generation Star Wars. Win.
Dynamix II
Kraftwerk
Front Line Assembly
Front 242
Ministry
KMFDM/MDFMK
m1dy
Atari Teenage Riot
Lords

Suki, Depeche Mode is New Wave not Techno, you're thinking of New Order.

Yoji Biomehanika!!!!!

Yeah, Yoji Biomehanika is good. But I don't really listen to most of his other songs. Well the only song that comes to mind is Hardstyle Disco.

Art of Noise is good stuff from the '80's. Get their early albums, it's their best...

I think I like eurobeat if that's what the songs I like are classified as. Like I found some stuff by DJ Mangoo and I like that style more than Infected Mushroom for example. Songs like Omnibus and Sand Storm. Does anyone know songs that are like that?

I.B.I.S., Phyx, and Slum are all japanese psy trance producers. DJ Tsuyoshi is a pretty popular internation dj from japan.

techno has two meanings -- it's funny --

for europeans they mean stuff with no

vocals, really underground "hard" stuff --

for americans, when they say "techno",

often they mean what in europe is called

"dance". And "dance" in europe is a lot

more mainstream and pop-oriented

for "american" style techno (i.e. european

"dance"), the best example I've found is

this (itunes link):

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/advancedSearchResults?albumTerm=Euro+Clu b+Hits+Vol+

strangely it's called "euro club hits" ...

which makes things even more confusing ;

for "european" style techno... i.e. the

stuff with no songs, I recommend going to

www.beatport.com and checking out the stuff

in the "techno" section
