So recently I finally watched the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya. One of the things that I loved the most, and I'm sure with many other people, was the music in episode 12. Without giving away too much, could anyone give me some suggestions on music that was played in the concert? I dont know of too many J-rock bands, though I'd like to, but does anyone know more of female lead j-rock bands?
Thanks in advanced. Oh and i only made the topic so general because I haven't seen every other thread ask for suggestions and help like i do in every other board i go to so i figure this could help everyone out? :P

Female leads? High and Mighty Color is for you. They are probably my favorite for the female leading category. Also, check out:
Do As Infinity
move
Judy and Mary
As for Korean though, I will have to say Koyote too, they are good. NOT Jpop, but pretty good. The female (Shin Ji) isn't completely lead, but all sing to the same amount for the most part.

They aren't exactly Jrock...
1. Shounen Knife
2.OnmyouZa
There aren't many female leads in the Visual Kei category, so that's all I know of.

High and Mighty Color fit the category. DAI might not, nor Judy and Mary, but they still have their rocking music here and there...even if it is on a rare occasion. move is still pretty rocky, but more dancish. As for Koyote, yea...it is more of a pop/rap type of thing, but might be for those who like move.

The first song I listened to by High and Mighty Color, I just went O_o;; and the second one was one I already heard from watching Bleach. They were pretty good despite the fact that i was completely caught offguard. I was thinking more about bands with a bit poppish influences like the songs in Haruhi. Or is that just jpop? Maybe I should just get my genre's straightened out first.

Yeah... You might want to actually know the difference between rock and pop in general.

Well i dunno, i figured that haruhi concert was jrock cause i figured pop was all the idols and sparkly sparkly and the dancing and what not. though now i realized jrock is actually more comparable to metal/hard rock in america.
...sorrryy.... -_-;
well...uh...of anyone stll wants to bother trying to make suggestions for me, id be grateful.

QFT.
Umm...to tell ya the truth, female bands aren't my specialty...not that I have anything against 'em, but I've only listened to a few...I could give ya plenty of reccomendations if your ever looking for non-female bands.

Well, I they aren't a band, and idk what kind of music it was you listened to because I haven't seen that anime yet....but try Zone for an all girl band with instruments, and for a girl thing without a band project going on, check out Morning Musume. If either fit your desires, let me know.
Zone has disbanded a while back, but they have done the ending theme to astroboy (True Blue) and other really good music. I recommend Shiroi Hana though, thats my favorite by them so far.
Morning Musume is a girl groups consisting of around 10-12 girls, all doing vocals. Each time period, they "graduate" their members and either let them go off doing what they want, or if they are liked enough, are given solo careers. When they graduate, sooner or later, they welcome new girls to the group. As far as anyone knows, this group can last forever, haha.

And Shounen Knife is? Judy and Mary and DAI are both very much rock groups. Now whether or not they're hard rock is a different story. JAM is punk though, not necessary headbanging punk, but punk non-the-less. And move is rock only about maybe 20% of the time.
I've always had a thing for girls that rock, and none rock like Go!Go!7188. There's also Aikawa Nanase, Kimura Kaela, Kitade Nana, Maria, and Zone (some of which are on the lighter side of rock). Olivia and Tommy Heavenly6 (at least her newer stuff) are also rock, but not particularly good rock.
Hmm, let's see, there's also Kamiki Aya, Whiteberry, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some, and some I'm intentionally leaving out.

I would group all those as jpop. Except Kitade Nana, Zone, and GoGo.
DAI would be jpop. I have their entire discography and 75% of their songs would consist of pop.
I've never heard Judy and Mary do any rock at all. All i've ever heard them do is eurobeat, or pop in general.
