I'm wondering if there are any long manga series currently being released to about to be released by TP or Viz or anyone else?

Meaning not series that are finished being released but ones that are currently being released or even ones that are being reelased but still are ongoing in Japan at the moment as well. Though there might be few like that. Looking for anything at the moment really that I could collect as they are coming out.

Yakitate Japan

At least, last I checked it was still going on in Japan. I'm a little slow these days though, so it may have finished recently. Its a pretty long series I think.

Edit: Yakitate is due for release ~ 9/5/2006

Another one that is a decent size is Suzuka. Due for release here 8/29/06

There are quite a few actually. Off hand, I can think to name:

GetBackers (15 out of 35+ released so far)
Samurai Deeper Kyo (19/38)
Rave Master (20/35)
Beck (5/25+)
Inuyasha (25/43+)
Naruto (10/32+)
Bleach (14/22+)
One Piece (11/41+)
Prince of Tennis (14/33+)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (4/28)
Hikaru no Go (7/23)
Hunter x Hunter (8/23+)
Berserk (12/30+)
From Eroica with Love (6/32+)

Ect, ect, ect. A lot of shounen tends to go on for quite long so a lot of the shounen titles they release are going to meet your specifications. There are probably also several shoujo titles that go past the 20 volume mark (assuming that's what you mean by long running), but I don't care about 99.9999% of shoujo, so either I couldn't tell you or don't care to mention them.

Since Manafairy gave you a list of shônen manga, I'll give you a list of shôjo manga. Off the top of my head, I can name

Absolute Boyfriend
Count Cain
Count Cain: Godchild
Crimson Hero
NANA
Baby & Me
Kaze Hikaru
Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden (spinoff of Fushigi Yuugi, which is complete)
Basara

Also, a few more shônen titles I can think of that Manafairy didn't mention:

Black Cat
Shaman King
Yu-Gi-Oh!

If your looking for a more adult series
Berserk 13/30ish+ (its very very dark and violent though)

Edit- Woops, someone already mentioned it. Oh, well.

Negima 10/15+ (in my opinion, a godly series by the creator of love hina, ken akamatsu)
Tsubasa 10/14+ (by CLAMP, the creators of innumerous classics, such as card captor sakura, chobits, rayearth, etc.)

Ranma 1/2 is over 30 books.
Rurouni Kenshin just completed its run here at 28 volumes.
Monster has 18 volumes out in Japan so far; the Us release is up to vol 3(which I still have to get).

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I have a question though about Rave Master. From what I understood the anime never finished the story. Is the manga like that where it just stops or does it continue past the anime?

No problem, I can understand that. Still I enjoyed watching the anime and if there is more to the story I'd like to continue reading it.
