Kamiya Kaoru cosplay help needed

I sooo need help. I want to make a good kaoru cosplay(the pretty yellow and

orange one) before AnimeSouth, but I've NEVER actually done anything like it. I

know how to sew and stitch(I have a sewing machine) but I need info where to

get the fabrics and how to dye and paint the materials. -_-; arigotou!

here are good instructions on how to make a Kimono: http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?p=1096645#post1096645 . and for fabric I generally buy my fabric at a fabric store :p. use your best judgement on what type of fabric to use, I have never made a kimono.
