It is good to know that when I go through the SS sections to evaluate them, that I will find threads like this to help sway my opinion as to whether the forum should stay or go. Well done.A section generally about anime based on Shounen Jump manga would be good. No more Bleach, or Naruto forum, hello SJ forum, and with room for other SJ titles too.

Since I don't know if TAFKA Zim will check back on that thread or not, I present my proposal here. Remove the separate forums for the different SJ anime, and replace them with an SJ general forum. Kinda like your "Studio Specific" idea, but limited in scope, and without the risk of offending the Gundam and Evangelion fans.

I second this idea.

We need this.

I'm hesitent about this idea.

I did like the Studio Specific idea at first; however, I thought a good number of the complaints against it were rather well founded. I think arranging everything based upon the manga they were published in crosses too many lines and makes it *too* confusing. If I am looking for a Dragonball type of thread, which admittedly isn't that often, or perhaps a Rurouni Kenshin thread was started, that would mean having to sift through Bleach and Naruto discussions that I, frankly, couldn't care about.

Also, is it about the manga or the anime? I know in the RurouKen subforum, we handled issues concerning both. I believe that Bleach, Dragonball, Naruto, and Gundam all act in similar fashion. After all, if I have a question about one of those manga, that respective specific forum is probably the best place to look.

This subforum idea has room to grow, but again, so did the Studio Specific forums; I think User Interface is what deterred that system from flourishing - people didn't want to take the time to see who animated Super Ultra Hyper Mega Death Extravaganza X-23 to as a question specifically about that series; where as the ability to compare similar studio's work (or, more pointless versus threads) were a benefit to keeping one studio in one area.

Also, what's the limit on a Shounen JUMP subforum? Obviously, Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball, Rurouni Kenshin, etc. would all end up there - but what if I wanted to start a KochiKame thread? KochiKame, as far as I know, runs in Shounen JUMP but if you check out the manga forum now, the only discussion about non-English language titles seems to be completely in the form of "What Scanlation have you read?" sort of deal. And, on the extreme, this is an English language retailers forum, should it be limited to what's published in the English language Shonen JUMP and what we would want to see printed in the magazine?

So, while it may solve minor issues, it would eventaully create far more problems than it means to solve.

While having a Shonen JUMP subforum might create some problems (namely, having threads about a bunch of different series all seemingly jumbled together in one forum), I think it might be worth giving it a try. It's possible that it might actually work out, with a minimal number of problems. It would also give people a place to talk about Shonen JUMP titles that are not quite popular enough to have their own subforum (or used to have their own subforums but don't anymore), such as Hikaru no Go, Shaman King, Black Cat, etc.

Also, what's the limit on a Shounen JUMP subforum? Obviously, Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball, Rurouni Kenshin, etc. would all end up there - but what if I wanted to start a KochiKame thread? I agree with Mika that it's worthwhile, simply to broaden the discussions. I recognise the problems that you've highlighted, Suiko, but I've got to say, I could stand to see (and join in with) more discussions on other SJ titles that don't currently have their own forum. One of these days I've got to start the Hunter X Hunter manga, since I hear such amazing things about it.

Without an Shounen Jump forum, there really isn't anywhere to talk about those manga and anime, other than in General Anime, where the threads would soon get lost.

I like the idea at first, but I figure that DB, Bleach, and Naruto would completely dominate it and might bury any other discussions.

The series specific forums will be staying as they are, sorry.

Discussion is overrated anyways.

Discussion is overrated anyways.

The problem is, we can change it to please some, but others will hate it. It is working fine as is. But please, discuss away!
