Actually, the actress to play Dr. Kureha in ONE PIECE was Nozawa Masako, who voiced Son Gokuu (as well as Gohan and Goten) in Dragonball, Z, and GT.

Its great that these VA's are still doing voices.

Although I don't see how Luffy sounds like Goku, Luffy's voice wasn't that cute;)

PS- This reminds me of ranting Naruto fanboys ranting that he was dubbed by an old lady. Don't they know that its the same in Japan where characters like Luffy are voiced by an old lady?

If anything Luffy sounds like Kuririn with the vocabulary of Son Goku. ^_^

You might as well use Naruto himself as an example. His character is also played by a women.

Yeah but shes not old-_-; The issue fans had wasn't that a women dubbed Naruto's voice but that an old women did.

Ah, didn't know the old part was being stressed. How does it sound in your opinion? I'll probably never hear it so I just wouldn't know. Does she sound like an old women (then the complaint would be very valid) or are people just using that as an excuse to have something to ***** about?

As for old seiyuu still being in action. I think it's great and love the nostalgia feeling. I hadn't heard Nozawa Masako in years till her appearance in One Piece. Just listening to her talk to Luffy brought forth great memories.

Naruto's English VA doesn't look that old to me ... maybe in her forties? She's got like ten years on the Japanese seiyuu, if that's the case.

Wait, are you comparing Tanaka Mayumi and Nozawa Masako, and saying Tanaka's voice is less cute than Nozawa's? Please tell me you're joking. Nozawa has one of the most recognizable voices and she's been in nearly everything in some shape or fashion, but never did I think her voice was attractive. Well, maybe it was in 1956; I don't know what sort of acting, if any, she did back then.

I don't think she sounds like an old lady, I think she did a good job fitting the character. Its just its a little annoying(the character is annoying so maybe thats why).

I don't really like to watch the dub but its no where near as horrid as the fanboys make it sound, its not as bad as 4Kids dubs.

Looks old to me, but people age different so maybe she just looks older than she really is.

No. I was just joking about how Luffy doesn't sound as cute as Goku does.

I saw that photo, but then I found another one or two:

http://ia.imdb.com/media/imdb/01/I/70/27/20/10m.jpg

I can't find any hard evidence to exactly how old she is, but I think in or around 40 is fair game.

Son Gokuu from the DB series is Nozawa Masako.
Son Gokuu from the Saikyuuki series is Hoshi Souichirou.

Monkey D. Luffy is Tanaka Mayumi. She's Krillin in the DB series, Koenma in Yuu Yuu Hakusho, and if anyone's ever seen the original Nangoku Shounen Papuwa kun, she's the voice of Papuwa kun.

I actually made the connection between Luffy and Papuwa.

Just to add to the trivia fest, Red-Haired Shanks in One Piece is voiced by Shuuichi Ikeda. Ikeda-san is more well known for his portrayal of Char Aznable. I recognised his voice within about the first 10 seconds of his first appearance. He's very distinctive.

I can't find any hard evidence to exactly how old she [Maile Flanagan] is, but I think in or around 40 is fair game.

Her Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maile_Flanagan) says she graduated high school in 1983, so that would put her at around 41 if she wasn't held back at all.

Junko Takeuchi was born in 1972, which makes her 34. So it's really not a huge age difference.

[EDIT: Except, of course, that Naruto's US dub was made several years after the Japanese one. But even that would only put the VA age difference at around 10 years].

Heh, I must not have been paying attention at all.

The one voice I noticed as Ikeda was watching Kenshin; Ikeda-san plays Hiko Seijuuro - I heard it and I jumped up and shouted "Char!". To be honest, I think his portrayal both as Char and Hiko was much better than that of Neo Roanoake in Gundam SEED DESTINY, but then again, I think I have a problem hearing his voice in Gundam and not seeing Char.
