Is it me or is half of the Japanese culture board about food? A new board about food would be awesome, or maybe a sub board.

The Japanese eat too much fish =(. Literally vacuum them out of the ocean. Not OK for ocean.

i had probably the best sushi i'll ever eat at that market, it was nice and fresh

plus, i've seen worse, i once watched as a man bit the head off of a living trout, the tail still flapping after he spit the head back into the stream

I'm curious, is most fish sold by the unit or by weight? And on average, is the price comparable to what you would find at a coastal city in another country, or comparable to a grocer's fish supply? I mean, I figure items like crab, squid, octopus, lobster and things of that nature remain universally higher priced items, but would you pay less per weight/unit for a whitefish or tilefish at a fish market than you would at a grocers or such?
