Do you think that the LE Blu-Ray Air box set with have english subtitles on the disks? I love Air, and I'd probably be willing to buy this.

i dont think they have announced yet, but i was wondering the same thing due to BluRay's region encoding having Japan and the US in the same region.
I still wouldnt buy it though. DVD's in Japan are more expensive than they are here. I think i heard the regular box set for air was around 300 bucks, and the Bluray one is priced at 280 or 290 i think.
i guess if you are a fan, and you have that kinda cash to spare, then go for it. :D
EDIT: Oh, and these extra's were announced earlier today:

If you're a fan, need more than just fansubs to keep you happy, and have the ability to play BR discs, I'd say grab it, regardless of the price. This isn't a series we're likely to see over here, and even if we do, it won't have all the goodies that this set does. English subtitles, though, I'd doubt, but you never know. FMA had them on its special edition, after all.

It is not likely that this product will have English subtitles, unless it is licensed for distribution in America. Who in Japan would have need of such a feature. You can always obtain the scripts from a fansubber, and make your own subtitles using DVD-R. A lot of fansubbers will provide scripts to a fan who has his own R2 DVDs.

^Too much trouble. Not to mention a decrease in quality. If someone's buying BR for that much money, why the devil would they want to watch something that's home ripped onto a dvd? That's what fansubs are for. ^_^

^Too much trouble.
The simplest way to do it just involves playing it back on a PC, and loading the subs from an external file.

There are ways to do it which don't involve recompressing the DVD.

^Still too much trouble, and I have no idea how to go about laying subs over something, nor do I care to find out. Pay money for disc, espeically at R2 prices = put in machine, hit play, and be done with it. That's why I don't buy R2's and never will. A lack of subtitles. If I want a fansub translation, I'll just download one.

Akira, Steamboy, Patlabor (1 & 2) and Ghost in the Shell are all on their way to Blu Ray in Japan this year. Take that HD! :P
