Well, as the post says, I'm wondering which Final Fantasy you guys think is going to be the best of the new upcoming releases. It's a tough choice, but I think I'll go with FFXII.

From playing the demo of both Dirge of Cerberus and FFXII (not the version you get in DQVIII) for an hour or so, I will easily say FFXII from your list. Dirge of Cerberus felt too much like Devil May Cry, which is good or bad depending on your taste. After playing Dirge of Cerberus at this years Comic-Con, I can say it is not my type of game and I am skipping it without regret.
FFV and FFVI will also be released for the Game Boy Adanced. I am especially looking forward to FFVI.

I'm really looking forward to Final Fantasy XII myself. It just looks like it will be another wonderful addition to the franchise ^_^.
It's a shame I wasn't smart enough to reserve a copy for myself. Don't know if the time to do that has passed or not..but knowing my luck, I'll be one of the idiots forced to wait six or so months after the original release date because of failure to reserve <_<. Oh well...I guess this installment is worth the wait.

For me it will come down to FF3, FF12, or FF13. To early to decide.

Going by that FFXII might be the worst game of the year. It seriously had the worst playable demo maybe ever.

Did you play the DQVIII demo? Its been said that that demo was a really old version of the game and dosent even resemble what the game is like now.

FF3 or 12 interest me the most.
I like the job system of 3, but while it is somewhat visually appealing Im not a big fan of that crystal chronicals art style really.
12.. I don't know what to expect, I've heard good and bad. My biggest fear is about linearity issues, I hear it can be fairly non linear. But that depends on what they mean... nonlinear compared to ffx? or nonlinear compared to older games?
I'll get both games though, probably get DoC too

Worst demo ever? Probably. Worst game of the year? Far from it. =)
I am predicting that Dirge of Cerberus will be far worse than FFXII, as far as substance. Dirge of Cerberus just seems like a mediocre fan service to FFVII fans. =P Hey, but a lot of people like fan service. Not me, though. I guess we will see when the games are out.

Well lets just say FFXII has gotten alot of praise while DoC has gotten alot of praise for its FMV and well..........................thats all.
Though read this
The U.S. version of Dirge of Cerberus will receive a major overhaul due to the fact that the developers were not satisfied with the final Japanese version. Square Enix also wants to make the game more single-player oriented. [10]
* Vincent's running speed will be 1.2 times faster, and he will be able to perform a double-jump and do ranged and melee attacks in midair. Also, his dive-roll dodge move will now be supplanted with a dash move.
* Vincent's weapon will be able to be customized to make it lighter, so there is no sluggishness when aiming with your weapon drawn.
* Limit Breaks will no longer detract from the magic bar; instead, a single-use item can be used to perform the attack.
* "Easy Mode" will be removed, being replaced with a "Extra Hard" mode. This new mode will include unlockables such as 40 special missions, a character-model viewer, and artwork and sound galleries.
* Online Multiplayer support will be removed due to the poor popularity of PlayOnline in America, and lack of PS2 HDD support in the U.S. Missions from the Online Mode will be used in some of the missions that can be unlocked in "Extra Hard" mode.
* The game will still support mouse and keyboard peripherals for PC FPS-style gameplay.
From wiki
So maybe there is some hope.

I'm undecided. I'm not sure what to think of them.
FFXII demo wasn't that good to me because I diddn't like the battle system, but I'll still buy it & maybe the battle system will grow on me once I really get an understanding of it.

I'll rent Dirge of Cerberus, but I'm not expecting much from it as it's gotten a lot of flack for various issues. Hopefully the U.S. version will be a bit better, but I'm not putting buying it until I've rented it first.
I don't have a DS, but I'd like to get one at somepoint and I'll probably get FF3 for it.
FFXII is definitely the one I'm looking forward to the most. I didn't really care for the battle system in the demo but it was tolerable and it seems that the final version of the game is a significant improvement (or so I hear). From what little I know of the story, I think it will excel in that department which is the part I am most concerned with (other than the characters, which it ties with).

FF3 DS > everything FF this year
Lets put it like this: FF12 is coming out a little too late already and I already lost all complete interest in this game. I'll get it. I'll play it. But more than likely I'll halfa$$ it. I haven't been hyped up for an FF game since FFTA.

They all look like they are going to blow...to be dead honest. FF12, I tried the demo....very disappointing. DoC, I already think the graphics look a bit dated...if it was released anybit sooner, it might have had a good chance, BUT besides that, FF going shooter....not cool to me. And lastly, FF3, I don't know what 3 they are speaking of, (FF3 as in the US's 6 or the NES 3) but The NES 3 was horrible atleast to me (Damn onionknights...cant tell gender and they look like jellybeans in armor)...and if it WAS the FF6 one, remade AGAIN, Its been done 2 times already, its not going to get much better.
More of a rant, but you get it.

Itsa not always best to judge by demos, sometimes the game is incomplete. Plus I think it will be better when your involved with the story & characters and when you start from the beginning to fully understand, learn and levelup the battle system & skills.
I was disapointed the the demo as well but I look forward to the game & maybe liking it even though that battle system isn't my kind of thing. Maybe FFXII will change that.
Dragon Quest VIII demo I diddn't like much but the actual game I loved to my surprise. Same could happen with FFXII.
PS- Was there even any music in the FFXII demo? For some reason I can't remember any-_-; Maybe the game was incomplete and they diddn't finish the music when the demo was released(which I bet was a Japanese demo that translated into English). I don't remember voices ethier...

I know not to judge the demos, but the style the game jumped into...It just doesn't seem to fit my expectations. Before the demo, I was very hyped, but then the passion died faster than a rabbit in a den of lions... I couldn't get into it. It reminds me of FFX2, which was ok, but totally lost among the other final fantasy games. I really wish that they would stay in their line of genre... I really wish it. Action RPGs with missions is not what I wanted, and I really doubt that would ever change by the time it releases.. Suppose theres always the older ones I can play or their games that are by Enix's half that they have not tried to alter battlewise >.>

It's not an action RPG. It's still turn based.

You can set it to Active Time mode, although I don't like that & prefer Wait Mode or whatever they call it in FFXII. Could be because I diddn't fully understand the battle system that I prefer a slower wait where I can select the spells or whatever & take my time to think.

You can still kinda do that. Just set the battle sytem on wait so the game pauses on each characters turn then put each character on manual so you can choose their action each turn. It's not the same, but at least its similare.

IGN's Dirge review is in!
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/724/724990p1.html
8.5 Presentation
Vincent, Yuffie, and Reeve are made even more interesting than they already were (well, maybe not Yuffie), and the fast load times and smart menus are a big bonus. Production values, go!
8.0 Graphics
Expect plenty of aliasing problems in just about every scene, but you should also plan on finding great character models and a cool art style. The framerate remains consistent too.
7.5 Sound
While not entirely memorable, there are a few tracks with ties to older Final Fantasy songs coupled with original tunes that work well with the action. The voice acting hits mores than misses.
6.5 Gameplay
The targeting and camera is obviously superior to the Japanese version and the mindless shooting and occasional boss battles are real fun. Poor AI, bad pacing, and basic stage design disappoints.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
A windfall of bonus modes that become available after you beat the game (including optional side-missions) are a nice touch, and multiple endings are more than welcome.
7.0
Decent OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I read a review in EGM today and they didn't care for it. It averaged roughly a 5.5 or 6, I don't recall exactly. Based on the review, everything was mediocre at best.

Because a lot of reviewers suck at their job. Case in point: Brave Fencer Musashi. EGM hated the game. Probably only ONE reviewer gave it an 8.0 and the reasons were only stated in one measily paragraph. Hence why no one should base their video game purchases on a video game review.
The graphics look pretty good though. Not the best. But still good enough to warrant a purchase.

The actual game is better than the demo. That demo is hella old and the final product was tweaked a lot more. Hence the delays the game had. And FFX's battle system was nothing new or innovative.

God why would you want a battle system like 10, one thing X-2 did that was way better than X was the battle system.
