when is expectation to much?
when is it to much coming from yourself?
stories?
thoughts?

It can push you to be better, but it can push you into insanity, and either way, when you are defeated by it, you feel like crap- but maybe you've learned something about yourself. You can't completely live without it either, it is everywhere and you're expected to have expectations O.O. You have to expect something of yourself to accomplish, until you expect to much, and don't know if what you've accomplished is enough or worthy of your work... I just wanna hear your guys stories, positive or negative. >_<

Expectations should be kept medium. Not enough to get disappointed by but enough to keep yourself strong. For example if you enter a contest and lose, if you expect too much from yourself you'll sink into despair, ignoring the possibility that you can improve.

I've always liked the quote "Hope for the best, Expect the worst". I guess it kind of fits in to this topic...

I think dopamine is involved with expectation, but I'm no neurobiologist.

Don't expect nothing, I do things till I come to my limit.
Then I look for higher ground.

I have both failed and exceeded expectations of different people.
The problems start, when those close to you expect something that you are either not ready, not suitable or simply don't feel like doing. Then its time to search for the middle ground and compromise.
I also believe that majority of people can successed only if they have deep interest in the subject/area. You can only go so far under external pressure, but if you are driven by your own reasons, than your results will be much better.

Expect life to go as wrong as can be, plan for such eventualities and it'll be a breeze for being over-prepared. ;)
