BLEACH Dub Cast Announced

(This news is about a day old...but, since I haven't seen a thread about it, I decided to start one.)

Viz Media announced the English cast for Bleach today:

Ichigo - Johnny Yong Bosch
Rukia - Michelle Ruff
Isshin - Patrick Seitz
Karin - Kate Higgins
Orihime - Stephanie Sheh
Tatsuki - Wendee Lee
Ishida - Derek Stephen Prince

Johnny Yong Bosch as Ichigo? :O Wow...this is great (though I hope he'll be able to pull off Ichigo's rebel-like attitude). XD I can't wait to hear this cast.

Freaken SWEET! I hope Johnny Bosch can pull of Ichigo, I loved his voice for Vash so we'll just have to wait and find out. Seems like a good cast though.

Wow. That's a pretty awesome cast. I had to see what other roles they played, since I didnt know who was who, so overall its a satisfying beginning.

Yes, I had to look up their roles too (except for Johnny Yong Bosch since I knew what his voice sounded like immediately). Honestly, after remembering the voices I've heard from each of these VAs, I think it's a nice cast so far. (Though...I still think that Yuri Lowenthal would have been a better choice for Ishida than Derek Stephen Prince. I'm probably worrying about it too much, though, so I won't nit-pick until I actually hear the voices.) I think it's going to be a pretty good dub, and I can't wait to see what the cast will be like when all of the shinigami from Soul Society are given VAs.

Hopefully, Viz will be able to keep the standards high and have a great cast for the entire series. :P

Nice looking cast. Bosch as Ichigo seems a bit strange to me, but I'm sure he'll be able to pull it off like he always does. And the Digimon Emperor as Ishida? Sweet.

Woot! Wendee Lee is gonna do Tatsuki! I love Wendee Lee. I was hoping she would be in there someplace. Although I have a feeling she'll be doing a somewhat "country" accent like she did with Ichino from Battle Athletes. Since they act a lot the same I mean.

I have gotten so accustom to listening to the Japanese audio that I may continue watching it subtitled though.

He's had a bunch of acting gigs...varying from live-action (he was in the original Power Rangers! :O) to voice acting (impressive list of roles over the years). Honestly, I don't think he'll disappoint as Ichigo; if he can make his voice a bit deeper, then I'm sure he'll handle the role quite well. :)

Kiba (Wolf's Rain) - Also might be similar to Ichigo

He was also the black Power Ranger:P After that black dude stopped playing in season 1.

I just didn't match the name with the voice. but yeah, I loved his voice as Claus from Last Exile and Kiba from Wolf's Rain. Although, as I have never seen any of Bleach before I have no idea what his character is like. I was surprised when he did Renton's voice in Eureka 7, I guess because he was able to take on a younger kids role. But in Wolf's Rain he played the part with a deeper voice. What's the personality of the main character Ichigo like?

People don't sweat if a few of your favourite VA's aren't in the main cast, an arc about 30 eps into the show introduces alot of new characters.

Derek Stephen Prince as Ishida? Please no... Joshua Seth at least would've been better... Prince could barely handle chaos... Not that Seth did much better, but Seth's voice actually fit the role, even if he was drugged and on sedatives the entire time...

Wilhelm's VA, though... better choice than chaos' for Ishida, I'd say...

I think the role of Kaneda in Akira fits the personality of Ichigo most of the roles he has done. Which is badass & even arrogant at times but still cares deeply for his friends.

Overall it seems like good (if not great) choices. I'm a bit iffy on some roles, but they don't necessarily seem bad and its based on looking at the other roles of theirs that I am familiar with. For example, Michelle Ruff seems to do a lot of 'sweet girl' roles and those are the ones I recognize and Rukia is most definitely not a sweet girl.

Michelle Ruff is great with non-sweet girl roles also. Look at Tatiana from Last Exile for example, who is rather harsh & arrogant(at first anyway). She also voices Alvis, another main character of the show but is very cute & sweet.

Cecily from Gundam F91, a very strong willed women.

Kiki from Gundam the 08th MS Team, a somewhat rude & cruel girl but emotional.

Fujiko from Lupin TV, a very sexy character.

She has a lot of range, not just sweet girl characters.

Kiki is her only non-sweet girl role that I'm familiar with. It's been a while since I saw 08th MS Team, so I don't really remember Kiki's voice. I don't doubt that she's capable of doing a voice that fits Rukia, its just that those are the roles of her's that I'm familiar with so I can't imagine anything but her Star Ocean 3 voice for Rukia -_-;

Have you played Grandia III? She voices a main character but sounds nothing like Sophie in Star Ocean 3.

I didn't mind it, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, though it's definately not as good as DQVIII and SuiV

Digital Devil Saga is one of the best dubbed video games in recent years. The main characters are voiced by Crispin Freeman, Amanda Winn Lee, David Lucas & Wendee Lee. And all the other characters sound great as well.

DQVIII dub is great, at first the accents bugged me but I got used to them & without them it just wouldn't sound right.

FFXII looks like being a good dub as well from the few snippets I've seen.

SuikoV with a good dub? I'd say passable... half the voices are decent, and half make my ears bleed... especially Lyon... I mute the TV whenever she's on screen.

I thought SO3 had a good dub as well and her Sophie/Ameena voice didn't really annoy me, it just wouldn't fit Rukia. And no, I haven't played Grandia III.
