Okay. The latest developments on the metal gear movie are thatKojima said that he wants Viggo Mortensen(Aragorn) to play Solid Snake. This varies on his earlier statement in which he said Hugh Jackman(Wolverine) should play Snake. I think that Jackman would make the perfect Snake and should be pursued. Mortensen isnt Snake. I dont think that would work. Mortensen looks more like the snake from the nes games. Also he said that Alaska would be the setting for the movie, but It would not be based on Metal Gear Solid. He also said that it might not even be canonical which is means it may not have anything to do with the other games. The fact that it is in alaska but NOT based on MGS is surprising. Itll be interesting to see where that goes. I also think MGs would make a great movie based on the game. If its not canonical then im not really interested in it. Ill def. see it, but ill probably be dissapointed. What do you guys say?

You're right Jackman would be the best suetted for playing snake. I think it is stupid if the MG movie wouldn't follow the storyline of the games. Anybody who likes MG would see it anyway.

i dont think either of them is 'perfect' for Snake, but if I had to choose between the two, i dont think one would be 'better' than the other.

I wouild rather have a no name actor, but i would choose viggo instead, jackman is more comical and not serious, unless stabbing people

i think viggo is a little scrawny for snake... even though he kinda resembles him, Jackman does so more

i cant wait for the movie no matter who plays it but Jackman was an awsome wolverine so it could be interesting if it was him.
and as far as the movie not mathcing the storylines would be better than matching a game..i think

Kojima actually said in an interview a few months ago, that this would take place in the Metal Gear universe, and tell the story expanding all the Games.
I wouldn't mind that. He just needs to make up his mind.

Didn't Snake live in Alaska after Metal Gear 2 and before Metal Gear Solid? It might have something to do with that if it follows the game story line.

Is there a source for all this or a website, at least? I mean, seriously, no one's cited any source other than "Hideo Kojima", and that makes me kinda skeptical of this at the moment.

How come video game movies never follow or expand on the original plot?

I dont know but they should...Ive never seen a video game more movie ready than metal gear because its already like half movie. GTA would make a good one too

How come video game movies never follow or expand on the original plot?
Because they get taken by bad directors who think they have creative talent.

Im not really keen on the idea of having real actors in a MGS movie,i would rather see a CGI movie. With all of the MGS magic, that would easily be enough to get me to see it.

I would show you such things, but http://www.metalgearsolid.org/ isn't working right now. And seems it won't untill the 31st.
Anyway. The thing I'm refering to was in his magazine interview. Along with details about;
MGS4(With such info as; What exactly Raiden is, and MGS4 taking place all around the world)
MGS: PO.(With such info as; The origins of Big boss turning on his country.)
And MGS the movie.

BURN IT WITH FIRE!!!!.... but on a serious note i hope they don't make a metal gear solid movie, even though it's not in the hand's of the crazy german butcher of game based movie's i still don't want it, i'd much rather play the game for multiple hour's then watch a movie with a huge plot squashed into an hour. i might be a little more open to the idea if it was CGI (the MGS game's have alway's been just beutiful graphic wise) but watching a real life actor mangle the image of snake.... no thx.

yeah i know that anybody can edit wikipedia but that doesnt mean its wrong. ive read articles where i knew mostly everything about it and its never been wrong before. anyway i meant that i get it from there origanally then usually follow it up with a more thorough search
amd also i might not have saw at the beggining, but now that i know that kojima is a big part in it i cant wait. plus w/ kojima itll probably be 2 hours long and be done well

no he does not. ><
that was maybe in 98, now he just looks strange. hmm... whatever. No michael biehn picked to be solid snake = sucky MG movies. Michael should've been hideo's first pick!! i mean it was hideo who used Michael Biehn's look to make solid snake's original look
