Masamune Shirow's coloring

Not showing anything of just yet, I'm interested in knowing how exactly shirow does it? All his hentai (at least) got this really well made "wet" effect over them. And very detailed concering muscles.
Are there any gjuides or infos on how to, well not copy, but adapt some of his techniques? Any particular photoshop filter that'll make the job easier? has he released any books about this or maybe some have been experimenting themselves?

IIRC he went to some oil-painting school back in Japan, might explain his very destinct way of coloring.

Maybe take a look at his Intron Depot artbooks or look for any of the contents of the books on the net. Don't know about all of them, but in Intron Depot 2, he sometimes talks about his art, sometimes explains what he did. He's been using digital media more, but a lot of his older works were done in acrylics I think.
