my bf and i started up a sushi directory site that so far only caters to washington state. san francisco is next on our list, but we hope to cater to everywhere.
the site also has directories and tutorials and video how-tos, and all that good stuff, and you can check it out at http://www.sushimonsters.com -- anyone want to help us compile restaurant lists? even just a few of your favorites would be helpful.
so far we have about 200 restaurants in washington state, and still, even after all our extensive research, there are restaurants that pop up out of nowhere. we'd like to be as complete as possible, so if you are interested in helping, holla.
we're also open to suggestions... anything, really.
we're also looking for craft people to craft a stuffed sushi monster for us, or people who are interested in working with us to sell your sushi-related art/crafts/work on our site :D
baahhhh!

I love sushi.
Not only do I love it, I have a job making it currently. However, I live in the Twin Cities area (Minnesota) and that's the last city most restraunt chains get an establishment.

Sushi and pizza are my two favorite foods ^_^. I mean a food that could possibly kill you, how exciting is that?! Plus i think that girls that eat sushi are sexy, that and girls with tattoos and combat boots and an obsession with all things bloody>_<

ive heard of people getting worms from improperly flash frozen (a requirement for the "sushi grade" rating) fish. but then again, ive heard of this thing called a chupacabra, and im not sure either actually exist in real life.

I ate at a nice little restraunt in the middle of the mall of america and it had nice Sushi. There is a place here in Kansas City, that has a "Sushi train" They have a model train going around the sushi bar, and you just grab a place as it drives by.

Ooooh I was taking it too broadly...as in "all sushi could potentially kill you"...wow...it's really good summer vacation finally started, because clearly I need a break. *lol*

I absolutly love sushi.
Could eat my weight in it..(and that aint a whole lot, mind you..)
We have a really nice japanese resturant down the block from where I live, and it's owned by a chinese family. The chef studied to be a sushi chef in Tokyo for many many years. He makes authentic, excellent sushi!
yummers.... :)

BS (Beloved Sugar, btw). There's no such thing as authentic sushi outside of Japan. Well, at least, not in Les États-Unis. Your Clan doesn't export their sushi (the rice), so foreigners are stuck with with some smelly manner of short grain rice... or somethin' of that nature. Hey, maybe you should talk to the Emperor and get this thing resolved... :uhh: I know someone wants to say something about that last comment, but... Just Don't. Midoriko tires of your logic...
Interesting fact, Sushi (as we know it now) and the sandwich were invented on the same day... If I'm remembering correctly... probably not.

you're absolutly right Midorikosan..my mistake to call it an "authentic" anything.
okay..so it's "psudo-sushi"..
but it's still good.

Your almost right they were made at around the same time for the same purpose. Gambleing food. As much as i like Sushi a good Rueban will own any food comeing out of Japan ever.

Chupacabra? Is that the thing that "sits in the old gum tree"?
As far as sushi goes, it depends on what type. Sushi, as most Americans think of it, I find distasteful. However, I love such things as Cali rolls or Otoro (I'm thinking the restaurant's was fake, since it was kind of cheap).
I know some nice places around here that serve sushi. Are you willing to accept places in NY for your directory?

i think there is already a sushi directory for NYC. i used to use it back when i was more of a sushi fiend.
a quick search turned up www.sushinyc.com (http://www.sushinyc.com)
i remember it having some decent places on it. found out about some all you can eats from it, but the best by far is still yuka (my sushi recommendation for nyc... the quality is not that high but its woth the 20 some bux you pay for it compared to the 60 bucks you pay for sushi which is often not much better at other places)

Now are these places that are mainly sushi oriented, or just serve better sushi than others? Oddly enough, it seems the local Hotel restaurant has the best sushi (according to my Japanese teacher and a couple of the students, anyway).
By the way, I don't live in NYC, I live in NY (aka - upstate). I'm like 3 hours from the outer fringes of the city at closest, haha. But, meh, that's a common misconception by anyone that finds out where I live.
"Oh, you're from NY? So you must see the Statue of Liberty and Empire State building like everyday, right?"
Uhh, like... once? And I think that was on a postcard... haha

I love sushi. I was wierded out the first time I tried it, but I instantly loved it. My favorites are the Philadelphia maki and the Hawaiian maki. I love shrimp sushi as well.
Unfortunately Mexico City doesn't have a lot of good asian restaurants (I can't believe thai food isn't popular here considering how people love spicy food O_o'). However, I love the Mr Sushi franchises and it's really cheap considering how good their sushi is.
I also know a very good sushi restaurant in the south in a mall in San Jerónimo. Very good stuff.
