I can't believe there is no thread on this... oh well
Personally I thought the movie was absolutely amazing. Jet li really nows how to go out in style. The fighting was amazing. The love story was amazing. Jet li and the direction of the movie was amazing. The subtitles weren't bad either.
but, there was this one good fight where jet li knocks his oppenent off the ring (that is like suspended 50 ft in the air) and as his oppent goes flying and drop, the subtitles read "Be careful" after he already fell -_-;
I never payed much attention to Wushu, but it is well deserving of my interest.

are you kidding me, it's jet li's last movie. Everyone's seen it. It was truly amazing I must say. I guess the U.S. got shafted... good thing I went to England. There are alot of fight scenes, but not like kill bill fight scenes. They are true fight scenes, true to the art of wushu. It amazes me to see him act/fight. His form is flawless.

The subtitles weren't bad either.Thats pretty much what I liked about it although I did not think it was his absolute best. Jet did a wonderful job with the character development. Some of the fight scenes were beautifully choregraphed, especially liked the last one with the transition between weapons to hands. There's alot of morals to the overall story as well, also liked Jet's reasons for wanting to do this film to show a more positive character.
Its a shame this is his last one :(

I know I'm late to reply, but Jet Li made the movie the way he did, because he is buddist. I read that it upset him to see fans saying "you kick ***". He prefers that people use martial arts for peace ;) so that explain alot of the morals of the movie. So ya, to show a positive character.

He prefers that people fight each other for peace? When did he say that?

nonono, he didn't say that in its entirety, but I was hoping you could figure it out for your self. The point of martial arts not to start wars, self-defense promotes peace. And is considered the last option to keep peace.

Self-defense is defending oneself by inflicting bodily harm on another human being. Martial arts = the arts of martial. Martial = war.
And again, when did he say that about martial arts? All I knew was that he expressed concern about the violence in his movies.

so are you saying that every martial arts that exists can't teach a mentality of peace?

honestly, it was some line from an interview on a fan-site. I know, not the best credentials.. but know what else? I don't really care. I don't see the big deal. Is it hard to understand that a buddist wouldn't only want kids think "wow, you kick ***".

Exactly. Martial arts are war. Anything else is added philosophy.

Buddhism is a religion, not a martial art. You are describing someone's religious philosophy.

No problem.
And yeah, that is an unreliable source. The big deal is that you're claiming an established icon said something when he didn't.

Instead of action flicks maybe he should consider some serious acting, he's not half bad. I just hate to see em go completely.

I swear, when I first saw the thread, I thought you were talking about those Young Adult books with the girl who has no fear gene. I heard about this movie. Havent seen it yet though. I can always use a good action flick.
