I finally got myself a job. It's only temporary for now until I can get a full-time job. A job is a job and money is money. I'm working at my dads friend's restaurant 5 days a week from 3pm to 7pm. (The hours are short for now since I just started this job.) I do waitressing and cooking both. Multi-talented! Not really. :lol: I just thought to share this news with everyone since I'm really excited about it.

Congrats! I found myself a job recently, too. It's a good ol' 9-5 schtick (9-5:30, actually, since we don't get paid lunch :(), doing technical support and database administration. It's cool because the pay is decent, it's close to home, and there's lots of room for growth.

Wait!! Isn't the man supposed to pay?!? :lol: Kidding! I don't mind to take my friends out. :) Maybe sometime Haro! If I ever make it up your way!

I love working at restaurants. Even though it isn't the best jobs the tips are niiiiiiiice. Today I didn't really do much work there since it was only my first day, but hopefully tomorrow I can start doing some real work since I had the restaurant review today. Not that I needed a review for restaurant work, but oh well I got paid for just being there today. *thumbs up!!*

I work at my dad's resturant. I cook on the weekdays and bus on the weekends. The hours are short and the pay is good but work it self can be a pain in the *** (esppecially with certain waitresses :P). Also since it is my dad's if ANYTHING happens I'm on call, he'll even call me during school >_< oh well, hey atleast I get free food and cooking experience which I can use when I go to college.

Congratulations Ember!
But just remember that working in hospitality industry is not all tips and free food. Don't take s**t from noone.
I recently got a part time job as a Census collector, and thats all I'm allowed to say, we signed confidentiality and privacy forms, and I actually could be penalysed for talking about specifics. -_-;

Yeah I know working in the food industry doesn't mean "all tips and free food." Actually the free food I don't really care for. Oh and you don't have to worry about me taking "s**t" from anyone...I never do at my jobs! My last job our boss at the nursing home was mistreating all the aides so I got right up in her face and told her what I thought. I got fired, but at least I told her what was what. :P

Working with the general public is poo. Especially if you're doing something rudimentary like cleaning or waiting. People take these simple jobs for granted and don't appreciate that the most basic jobs are what makes them able to go about their lives as normal. What would happen if there was no-one cleaning the city centres or shopping malls?

Theres a job out there for everyone. Don't be ashamed to start off at the bottom and see how the world works from the inside. One day you will have the power to make a difference.

Congratulations, Ember... Wish I had a real job (babysitting is Hell). Well, it doesn't really matter now, since I received my financial aid award letter Friday (thank you, taxpayers, because an educated Midoriko means... somethin'...) And, there's probably more to come... "Miscellaneous items," indeed... :devil: Joking, I wouldn't misuse government/state money...

Anywho... Ember, if I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I'll be sure to tip! What is it? Like 7% for serveurs? Hmm, or is that taxi drivers? No, I think it's 10% for taxi drivers... Or is that for God? Screw Etiquette! Well, would you also accept a Shake N' Bake coupon and/or a licked-up Jolly Rancher?

And, Congratulations again!

Congratulations Ember! May the job pay you what is due and more.

And while everyone is at it, I'll mention I now doing volunteer work at a hospital, which is going to be excellent for my résumé as well as giving a helping hand to my father's cabinet-making business.

I can't wait to get a real job!
