^ She may be working for a relative. I believe most states have loopholes that allow people to employ family members legally under the age of 15/16.

I don't know about your state, but it's perfectly legal here to get a job at 14. I started working at that age, as do many others. It isn't that unusual. You may be excited now, but remember that you'll have to work the rest of your life.

Cleaners job doesn't sound real great, but it is a bed store, not a McDonalds where I assume you'd have to mop kid puke everyday or something gross like that. Hope you're prepared for any floaties in the toilets. Frankly I'd say you should enjoy getting free food and housing while your parents are still willing to maintain you and start working a few years later, but I guess you really want to help pay debts. Your choice really.
I believe it's legal for kids over 11-12 years old to work in Mexico City as long as it's only part-time and they still go to school. If they have already finished Junior High, it's perfectly legal to hire minors. However I've seen a huge decrease in minors working as child rights laws are actually being enforced for once.

Well, you just successfully trolled, then. CONGRATURATION!
Anyway, I thought it was ok for people as young as 14 to work for summer and such, just not full time. Or in places like foundries or coal mines.

Either that, or I hinted at the fact that this thread is utterly pointless, and a waste of bandwidth. Which do you think is more likely...? ;)
It's sad. Nowadays everyone's like "You can post the most pointless threads and we'll attempt to make weak conversation on it, but if you say that you just don't care about what the person posted because it is trivial and meaningless, than ZOMG! you're a troll and needlessly mean!!!1!". It's really caused the degradation of the forums. :(
Back when we had religious and political discussions everyone got pissed at one another, but at least the discussions were interesting. Now here's a typical thread:
Original poster: "lol evre1 i gots a job!!! ^_^"
Response 1: "Good for you. ^_^"
Response 2: "Cool."
Response 3: "Why do I care? :|"
Response 4: "You TROLL, why are you so mean."

So then why aren't you posting the same thing in all the YTMND link threads, and threads revolving around links to pointless videos like "streetball" and "drifting"?
Of course, looking at the threads you've created in your time on AN, I can point out a few that are pretty pointless and a waste of bandwidth.

Heck, some of them are downright spam.

Yay, you've managed to dig up threads from more than 3 years ago, when I was younger and a lot less experienced on the internet. Good for you, that is so relevant and current.
As for the eon8 one, there were threads on that on pretty much every forum on the internet (as well as another created here after mine), and it turned out to be an interesting social experiment. It had generated a lot of interesting discussion on other boards, so I thought it might do the same here.
As for the YTMND and Drifting threads, at the very least those are amusing or have some sort of point.

I got a job as a day camp councilor (sp) when I was 14. I was fired 2 weeks later, because it is apparently against the rules to report a kid for spying in the girls locker room, even after they encourage you to do it in the job introduction.
Those f*cking morons need to get their rules straight

Goodluck Rosie, I hope it all goes well with you mother and all. Its really great that you are doing that, I think you should reward yourself some too ;)
In florida you can legally work at Winndixie or publix.
SamuraiDrifter - I understand you point and all, but dude you dont gotta be like that about it. Maybe Rosie came here for some reassurance and encouragement, why would you shut her down like that?

At that age she shouldn't. She should be getting exactly what she worked for. It's one benefit of starting to work at an early age. I was getting a couple hundred bucks more than my co-workers when I was working as a janitor (har har) when I was 15. Pretty nice pocket money.

When I was 15 the government had no problem taking my money. It wasn't as high as it is now, but they still did it. >_<

yeah, i agree. I started working at 9, literally. My dad owns a lawncare business. He taught me the edger and blower at 9 and I would goto work with him and get paid for it (only $1 and hour) but i got a $1 raise every year,at $13/hr now(one I got 2 dollar raise).
