I saw this a few days ago, and luckily at a time when the theatre wasnt completely full. I wouldn't have realised how long the film was( 2 hours 30 minutes) except someone told me beforehand.

Wow, I was impressed. I liked the first film, but I didn't find it as entertaining as others found it, even though I had a high respect for it. This one was extremely entertaining and improved on the first film in basically every way. It was very, very funny. The little things Johnny Depp does as Jack Sparrow make the character. The fight/battle scenes were very well made and creative (The rolling fight).

As you can tell, I really liked this movie and I think it was a lot better than the first one. I cam out of the film wondering how anyone could not like the film. It's just so enjoyable.

So what did everyone else think, if you watched it?

i enjoyed it, but had a few problems with things here and there. I liked the first better. i really liked the cliffhanger ending, and look forward to the first.

Did anyone else look at their watch towards the end of the movie? I feel like it should have been shorter.

yeah, the first hour did that to me. i looked off to the side at exit signs, looked over and saw my dad resting his eyes for a bit, LOL. I was ok with the end though.

This movie was my favorite of the year, but I guess critics disagreed. LINK (http://movies.aol.com/movie/pirates-of-the-caribbean-dead-mans-chest/21360/reviews) How could you not enjoy the movie? Sure it had some odd scenes but just read some of their reviews....I mean gosh they seem to rate hard nowadays.

The average rating for critics was 53/100. ********.

i don't know how they rated it so badly. i thought it was amazing. i didn't know how it'd end, but thats normally the case with the middle film in a trilogy. but the ending basically ensures that pirates 3, due out next may, is going to be a success.

the jungle scene was possibly the funniest sequence in a movie i've seen in a long long time

The problem I had with it and what I've read from different reviews?

It needed to be edited big time. And at over two hours it was way, way, way too long. The first movie had that problem too, but it was at least coherent.

That said, it's still a lot better than what's out there. And I'd pay to see Johnny Depp read the phone book while Orlando can just stand there and look pretty.

I thought it was hilarious much better (humor wise) than the first one. I did have a problem with the ending though, it kinda pissed me off eventhough its a good marketing technic to get even more people to see the third one and two its a heck of a lot better than the other movies that are out right now that are just remakes and wastes of money.

As I said in the other thread, I enjoyed it a lot, maybe just as much as the first, but the first one is definitely the better film.

Coherency is definitely a problem. The movie seemed to be all over the place at times.

Another thing I noticed was that the movie really took advantage of our admiration of the characters from the original. Meaning, if something worked in the first movie, they went to town with it in the 2nd.

I already answered this, but what the hey. The second doesn't even compare to the first. The second was okay. Actually, I'm too lazy to type. I agree with Depression ;)

I loved this one much more than the original (which I thought was good but highly overrated).

And the Elizabeth/Jack romance was stupid.

I liked the part where Jack Sparrow got killed by the Kraken. And the part where they enlist the help of the voodoo lady from the second movie and the pirate captain from the first movie.

I liked it. Everybody in the theater was completely absorbed in watching it. There are a few things worth noting. It was clearly not supposed to be its own self contained movie, whereas the first one could easily have existed on its own.
Captain Jack Sparrow shouldn't die. If Captain Jack Sparrow must die, he should die either drinking rum, making a remark about the rum being gone or saying 'You will always remember this as the day you almost... Captain Jack Sparrow." Other ways are inferior and not worthy of Captain Jack Sparrow

I personally loved all the references to the first movie, though some people didn't. All in all, I think I'll see number three. Any word on when it comes out?

How could anyone believe he would be dead. Although it would be logical considering he went head first into the Cracken, but theres one reason alone that he could survive.....He's freakin Captain Jack Sparrow.
Not sure, but Keith Richards will be in it :thumbsup:I hear he's playing Jack's father, thats awesome.

it was a good movie but i honestly had more fun with the 1st. like others said the incoherency of #2 just kept interrupting things. i also didn't like the look of the jones' pirates, some of the sea creature designs were just horrible. the skeletons were cooler and less cgi ugly. time length was a problem too, maybe if i had been told beforehand like with Superman i might've been more prepared. i really liked the revsiting of previous characters though.

Everyone have their calanders out? Good. Release date for Pirates 3:

May 25, 2007
for the US. Don't know about anywhere else.

As for the dead thing:
There is no way he will stay dead, even if he is dead. He has to be brought back from where ever he is or at least shown within the first 30 minutes of the movie. There would be no Pirates without Captain Jack. He is what made the movie, so there is no way he will be left out of the majority of it. That, and the fans would kill people

Haha did you guys pay attention to the ending scenes? :naughty:

Whether he's dead or not doesnt matter because they were saying there is a way to bring him back and they all said they would do it. Plus if he is alive, he'll easily cut his way through the monster.

It seemed as if it was just a big preview for the next installment. Overall a good movie but with the lack of anything conclusive I was a tad bit dissapointed. Good way to snag people back into theaters for the next film.

I hated it. So much unnecessary stuff.

However, I WILL watch the third installment. I do want a conclusion to this saga.
