I don't listen to too much of this band, but I will admit that Goh, or whatever the vocalist's name is, he has one of the best voices for singing. They are all over showing that geeks can truly rock on ;).

The Reraito PV was hilarious and cool...huppa huppa huppa xD. I like Haruka Kanata, but the video was lame...just in a garage singing o.o... Like I said, terrific vocalist, but the band grew old on me fast for some reason.

The vocals are especially poor, and guitar is bad. Drummer needs to be more creative. They're just the run of the mill band.

I like them. They aren't exactly my favorite rock group, but they do have some good songs. My favorite song of their's is probably the lobster song video. I can't remember the name, but the video has a group of synchronized swimmers being attacked by a giant lobster. Not only is the video great, but the song is good as well.

I prefer Kunkei Five M as an ablum since it has Flashback, Mirai no Kakera, Denpatou, Mugen Glider, and N.G.S.

I like em alot but I'd like them alot more if they sounded great live =(

I like them a lot, but I wish they actually had guitar solos. I mean, a few songs do, but a lot of their energetic ones don't.

Like the latest single, After Dark. That song had potential for a solo that could've rocked beyond all known standards... but it failed to deliver. They just fill the middle up with instrumental distortion and then continue on to the chorus... that's just... a waste.

Anyways, I actually own a lot of stuff by them (no DVDs, but a lot of albums and CDs). I'm just starting to listen to it. I like Blue Train a lot.

April 17th, 2008, 05:04 PM
Nice bump. :)

I think Solf-Fa is the best, then Kitsurugi, then Houkai. I only have those three as of now. The DVD I have, the second, is amazing. They are a great live band, and REALLY need to tour th US for once.

Gotoh's voice is just ace.

Yeah I guess it's true they don't have too many guitar solos, but the ones they do have are real catchy little lines, I like em. Like Loop and Loop and Kimi no Machi Made and Kimi to Iu Hana.

Same here. I don't like them enough for that.

Even though I've had there music for a while, I can't help but think a lot of their songs are similar to each other... and that's bad.

Sometimes I think I'm listening to one song, when it turns out I confused it with three other songs by them. : lol:

Tolerable does not mean good. I prefer it when a band sounds way better live, shows they have real skill..

Well that was an old post and my opinion of their lives has actually improved since then so kinda null at this point.

Anyway, I notice that alot of their new stuff is kinda hit or miss with me, I still think the first CD is the best.

kenshinbebop
April 19th, 2008, 07:33 AM
No, they're real good live. As good, if not better as the CDs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpHci3f5CCI&feature=related

I never found the appeal in Rewrite. It's a good song no doubt, but no where near there best, and yet it's a crowd favorite. Probably cause of the anime...

Tidusauron12
April 19th, 2008, 07:43 AM
Thare not bad Reright is thare best song.

Don't get me wrong, I totally think Rewrite is a good song... but have you listened to a lot of their other songs? The only reason people know about Rewrite is because it was used for Fullmetal Alchemist's final opening. There are plenty of songs that are just as good if not better out there.

Anyway, I notice that alot of their new stuff is kinda hit or miss with me, I still think the first CD is the best.

I agree here. They never were a SOLID band for me... I've been listening to all the songs I have by them (spanning from their first CD to the After Dark single) and I find that I'm only paying attention off and on.

Surely better than other Japanese groups I've come across, but not anything too special.

There are a few songs I will forever love, though.

The vocals are especially poor, and guitar is bad. Drummer needs to be more creative. They're just the run of the mill band.

TROLL.

The drummer is really good. Blue Train? After Dark? Perfect drumming.

Oh wait... that message is old... oh well.

Anyways, Ajikan's trying hard. World World World is their best attempt since Sol-Fa, and it's a pretty good album. I'll admit they're not my favorite band, but they're definately not a run of the mill band. The Japanese scene has a lot of worse bands (in my opinion Ajikan kicks Ellegarden's ***).

kenshinbebop
May 9th, 2008, 04:23 PM
Lol, that was about 3 years ago. ;-_-

Sol-Fa still reigns as their best album. Every track is superb.

As for the drummer, he is by far ne of the best drummers I have ever heard. Better than Sato-san even.

Ellegarden isn't as good as AKFG, but they deffinately don't get their ***** kicked, its a moderately entertaining battle. Ellegarden's best song is better than AKFG's worst in my opinion. Not saying there is a worst, just saying...I'd take Space Sonic or Stereoman over some AKFG songs.

Haha, yeah, right.

I like both bands, butI've been into AKFG a bit longer than Ellegarden.

Now, about Ajikan's drummer topping Sato... NO.

EDIT: Actually, maybe. I've noticed that Sato isn't nearly as creative with his drummings when compared with Ajikan's drummer... but let's face it, Ajikan's songs call for very active drums sometimes... Sato doesn't really put out much anymore. I'd his drumming was most impressive during Kool Spice (IMO). It may be that Sato is indeed out of the league of top drummers... T_T

kenshinbebop
May 10th, 2008, 01:15 PM
I've come to face that. Even though they are my favorite band and I love every member and what they do, and think they are amazing, technically, they're not the most amazing group anymore. They've become a rock group that writes great songs through rock, which are amazing, but not as intricate as what they used to do.

Ajikan's drummer is amazing, and just listening to anything he does, and watching him live is just such a treat.

Sato is still great though. I mean,m way back when, he was just as good. Listen to the original Bokura Harei no Suiseii, amazing drumming.

You could download the album from US iTuens when the pillows release it. It'd be $9.99... and while you wouldn't get any physical CD, at least you'd contribute to the pillows' albums sold.

BTW: I'm off to Japan tomorrow! It's not a big deal I think... I'll still be here a lot probably.

I'll have to check that out. I don't understand a word of it, but there's something about Siren that's kind of sad and haunting. In the melody anyway.

OT: I"d love to get some JPOP CDS the legal way(downloading can be a chore sometimes); is there a good site where they're reasonable (PM me a link). I know AN sells anime OSTS.

Thanks in advance!

This thread needs a revamp NAO.

I just got Worl World World and Surf Bungaku.

I hate to say it, but SB was a dissappointment. The opening track is awesome, I love Fujisawa Loser. Every song thereafter though is meh. Thogh I will say the closing track is strong.

World World World is truely amazing though. Travelogue is really crazily awesomely good. :)
Night Driving too!

I do not like SB. At ALL. I was also dissapointed with it.

But yes, World World World was a nice return for this band. I have to admit... they know how to crank out some good songs... the intro track had me ready for the entire album on the first list.

Ah yes, Ajikan, a truly good band, I always like their song - Kimi To lu Hana, soothing in the ears, and also After Dark, mostly the first song that I liked in their band, I've always been a fan of them and almost have all songs that they have, Ajikan just rocks my world.
